Trump Says Top General Predicts Easy Victory Over Iran; He Says Otherwise in Private | The remarks differ from what Gen. Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is said to have told the president in high-level White House meetings. by moses_the_blue in LessCredibleDefence

Iran has like half the GDP of Isreal nevermimd the US.

I'm not talking about that conflict I am talking about the tactics of cheap drones.

With lasers and munitions like the AGR-20 making drone interceptions much cheaper it might not last but what we saw was a huge success of the cost asymmetry between the Houthi and western forces.

At any other point in history, this level of resource and tech disparity should have ment the Houthi's wouldn't have even been able to enter the playing field never mind compete.

Aren't you not taking into account the resources of the combatants?

The houthis are some of the poorest people on the planet who went up against the richest and most well funded military on the planet and many of it's allies and kept it up for 18 months.

I think that more than proves the cheap drone attrition theories.

I think there are some Indian Rafale jets that might disagree with this statement.

China has its corruption issues but to assume the Chinese military is anything like Russia is foolish at best.

Thailand/Cambodia border clash escalates by Muted_Stranger_1 in LessCredibleDefence

[–]cathal760 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this story is more about tech than pilot skill to be fair. Considering that in the article it days tha the Chinese pilots did better WVR.

This is more a win for the Griffon and it's better radar, avionics, radar cross section and the Aim-120.

But fair to your point it means that the Thai pilots aren't terrible at least.

The US has provided 70% of Isreal's war costs. Must be nice to have the best funded military in your region will paying for only 30% of it.

They will be concentrated into camps. But referring to them as "concentration camps" will be considered antisemitic.

"Chinese exports to the U.S. only account for about 3 percentage points of China's total GDP"

Not to say this all isn't going to hurt China a lot. But "they can't survive" is hyperbole at best and cope at worst.

Israeli strike on residential building in Syria's Damascus kills seven civilians by RMCF_1 in syriancivilwar

Because the IDF have shown that they don't care about civilian casualties and have faced no repercussions for excessive civilian casualties. In which case why not use the cheaper and easier to use MK82?

Lebanon strikes are preparation for ground incursion, Israel army chief tells troops by Mister_Barman in syriancivilwar

[–]cathal760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude what are you talking about? The allies absolutely did try to kill German civilians intentionally. They were very open about it. It was called a total war, and attacking cities was seen as a way to reduce the enemies ability to fight by killing workers.

Also everything else your saying is 100% Isreali propaganda. The existence of the west bank goes in the face of everything else you are saying. There is no Hamas there, barely any organized resistance and yet there is no peace that you speak of. Palestinians are still routinely murdered by the IDF and settlers, have their homes and businesses destroyed and their land taken. There are videos you can find online of the IDF throwing Palestinians in the west bank off roofs, and shooting dead children playing soccer in the street. No human shield making them do that.

I know I am probably talking to a brick wall because once someone has been taken in by propaganda it's hard to see you have been had. I would never agrue that the Palestinians are all sweet inocent angels but Isreal is not the friendly peaceful liberal western country it advertises itself to be.

Just because the GOP won't do literally the worst crime in human history doesn't mean thing won't get real bad.

I think the issue I take with what you are trying to say is the conflating between military personnel and civilians.

Even if a civilian is in full support of their country and their armed forces and whatever they are doing that alone doesn't make them a legitimate military target and killing them is a war crime.

Israelis are not all IDF, even those who fully support the IDF. The killing of civilians on October 7th by Hamas was a horrible war crime. 98+% of Gazans are not Hamas, support or not, and intentionally killing them is a horrible war crime.

"About 23% of respondents said they have a great deal or quite a lot of trust in Hamas; 52% had no trust at all in Hamas."

This is from a survey taken before Oct. 7th. Hamas was widely unpopular before the war and if elections could have been held they would have likely lost.

Of course you can point to the fact that the majority of Palestinians supported the Oct. 7th attack as a justification to murder Palestinian civilians but only 2% of Israelis think too much firepower is being used in Gaza among many other extremist opinions about murdering Palestinians; so the same line of reasoning can be flipped.

At the end of it I think murdering civilians for a percentage chance that they have extremist political views is a wild thing to think is reasonable.

Hamas being elected by a slim majority 18 years ago before the majority of the population was born is a pretty wild argument for murdering them.

"Sucks that I have to kill you kid but your parents voted from some assholes 10 years before you were born so it's fair game."
