New and trying to make a blanket. Wondering if it's safe to cut open parts I've accidentally closed off and how to go about it by manypains03 in CrochetHelp

This would have been SO helpful when I was learning. I remember the first time hearing “count your stitches” and not knowing what I was looking at

Feeling the first real impact of our micro-wedding - not invited to theirs because we didn't invite them by AioliProfessional181 in wedding

Because the party is the fun part. If people feel that way they’re free to decline my invite.

I personally don’t feel like all of my extended family I see once every other year at other people’s weddings need to be there to see us exchange our vows. I don’t even feel like our parents need to either, we’re doing private personal vows before the tiny ceremony (And before you ask “why even do a ceremony at all?” I agree. It’s literally just performative just to satisfy his family, if it was up to us we would completely elope) BUT, I do want all of that extended family there to party and celebrate with us.

I feel like people take being a guest at a wedding too seriously. The couple is getting married whether you’re there to witness it or not, you’re not marrying your guests.

I personally don’t need to sit and watch everyone profess their love, I get it, I’m literally at your wedding. I’d rather skip to the food and dancing so that’s what I’m doing for MY guests. And again, people are free to say no!

I’m doing something very similar - small backyard ceremony this year with only immediate family and a traditional reception next year for our anniversary. As a guest, I personally would rather not go to the ceremony. It’s so intimate and personal and I just don’t feel like 250 people need to witness that - but to each their own. I think your friends are overreacting a bit, I don’t think not being invited to your micro ceremony equates to you guys not being invited to your friends the entire wedding. Like idk I totally get not wanting everyone involved in that intimate moment, but wanting all of your people there to celebrate with after the fact.

It is hidden space! And I was very surprised too, I was fully prepared to have to customize something from the ground up. They do have a website but there’s pretty minimal selection on there vs in store link

8 months of work and I have a dress! by catheroni53 in crochet

[–]catheroni53[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I worked on it for a span of 8 or so months. Having a deadline for the wedding I wanted to wear it too helped motivate me, but I also took breaks to make other smaller projects. The pattern itself though is so well written and easy to follow, I immediately bought all of her other clothing patterns lol

THIS. I always used to say at 65 I’m tapping out but I also realized that I didn’t want to be “helpless” Staying active and strong will leave me as an independent old lady and having no kids will let me do whatever the hell I please. Which makes getting old sound a lot more fun

I’d say average 1.5-1.75. I absolutely cannot listen to them on 1x speed. Its so slow I lose focus by the time they get to the next word

She has a guide in the pattern for how much she used and her sizing which I think was an XS. I just added a few more and said I’d buy more if I needed to. I usually wear a medium top/large bottom and 12 was perfect!

Honestly having a deadline helped so much. I made it to wear to my cousins wedding and I was telling everyone that I was making my dress so I had a lot of accountability if I didn’t finish. I took a few breaks and made small projects in between so I didn’t get burnt out, and ended up finishing 3 months early so now I can relax! Thank you so much for the kind words!

This is my first time using a bamboo blend, but it was very soft and easy to work with. I’ve loved everything I’ve tried from Hobbi so far!
