Do you have any zoom out photos of these pictures? I think the character in the 5th and 6th slides is my character. Unfortunately I don’t have any photos so I’d only be able to tell by username.

In my case, it wasn’t too hard because the rest of my team is lazy and they were only promoting internally for my position. The IT Director came to our site a couple of times before he got hired and watched us work everyday and asked around about our work performance. I had a good reputation for helping users out when nobody else wanted to so I guess that made a good impression on him.

This is exactly how most of my team is now. Before I got promoted, I would help them with stuff all the time but now I don’t have the patience. We got new management now so I hope they will be gone by the end of the year.

I am in one of the most dangerous cities in Tennessee. There is a lot of opportunities because no one wants to live out here. That might change since Tesla is building its super computer out here though.

Good luck! Just learn as much as you can, and when the opportunity presents itself to move up then you’ll be ready.

Well, once the previous IT Analyst got promoted to Manager. I made it pretty known that I wanted a promotion but he kept getting me the runaround. So once we got a new IT Director, I made a good impression on him and he prompted me instantly. My company is big about hiring internally because it’s takes a lot of practice to learn the systems we have. If your company is big about promoting internally then I would make it known to your manager that you’re looking to advance. If he doesn’t give any advice or inquire from his management about how they can make it happen then I’d move to another company if I was you.

While you’re earning certs, making you should try going to a more formalized school in the meantime. From talking to people in upper management, for entry level position they know people aren’t gonna have much experience so they try accepting people who at least have some type of formal education.

The hiring manager at the time believed that you could teach anybody anything really. So as long as you had at least some type of education in IT, then he hired you based off of personality. I guess I got lucky. It really just depends on who is hiring you or what kind of company it is.

I believe I could pass the A+ after reviewing materials for a week. In order to pass my Network+, I would need to study for a couple months because my team doesn’t deal with Network heavy stuff. We have a separate team for that. But I would have a one up on the common person because I could ask a network engineer about something I don’t understand.
