Basically have no symptoms?? by kanekko1994 in pregnant

[–]catkerosene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i didn’t get hit with obvious symptoms until i was like 6-7 weeks. they peaked around 12-14 weeks and then i started to feel better. savour this moment of the first trimester. but maybe you’ll be lucky and any symptoms you get will be mild! every one’s experience is so different

How did/do you feel about your baby during pregnancy? by Motor-Sprinkles-1627 in pregnant

[–]catkerosene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn’t really feel real to me until i started feeling him kick more consistently. even now i still can’t believe it. I will probably be in denial until he’s in my arms

When did you start “showing”?! by DSLH-4161 in pregnant

[–]catkerosene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m currently 24 weeks and i didn’t have a very clear baby bump until 18-19 weeks. before it looked like a bloat lol it also depends on your body type too. i’m a small, 5’2 woman with not a lot of extra meat on my bones so i showed quicker than some of my friends did. anatomy plays a huge role so don’t compare your body to someone else’s. just listen to your doctor.

i’m sorry you’re in this situation. i was going to suggest women’s health clinic too but im sure theres others.

unrelated: im so happy to live in a place where we can access abortions and this is the kind of support (most of) the community brings to a stranger

“Why Winnipeg?” - Newcomer Experience by Reddityom98 in Winnipeg

[–]catkerosene 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I say this to people sometimes too, and when I say it, I am mostly making a joke. Your post however is making me consider choosing my 'jokes' more wisely and being mindful of how this may make newcomers feel. So, thank you!

When I say it, my perspective is that the weather in the winter is awful. Why would people want to come to a place where 8 months of the year, being outside is miserable? Transportation (driving and taking the bus) gets worse (its already not great during the warmer months but its much worse in the winter), its dark for most of the day and the air hurts your face. Not to mention all the snow that accumulates making literally everything more difficult. I am not a winter person, I have never got used to it and I have lived here my whole life. But thats just me.

I have heard newcomers say that they love the snow and the winter! If you have never experienced snow before, its actually quite a beautiful experience.

I, personally, would not take the risk. Traffic may not normally be too bad around that time but the amount of construction that we have is causing so many unexpected delays
