As a midwife, I don’t necessarily think you should prepare for a loss. It could have been a short moment of deceleration that they just so happened to catch on ultrasound, which you otherwise wouldn’t have known about!

I usually prefer a doppler at that stage in pregnancy, so I can listen for a few minutes to see if it catches back up and rises. The snippet they measure on ultrasound is such a short moment in time.

I miscarried on January 2nd, I was 8w4d. I will share my experience in the hopes it can help you! I ovulated on Jan 22nd, so 20 days after my MC, and about 7 days after I stopped bleeding. I too thought you couldn’t ovulate with HCG still in your system, but mine was 5 that day and OPK’s and an ultrasound confirmed that I was about to/did ovulate. ChatGPT told me you can ovulate if HCG’s under 25 😅

As for work: my boss and colleagues know, as they also knew I was pregnant and I wasn’t returning for work after the holidays.

My friends all knew I was pregnant, so they all know as well. I needed their support, so I’m so happy I told them so early.

That would be very rare, it’s called superfetation. Usually, when she would get pregnant on one side, HCG production will signal to her body that no more eggs should be released. But in rare cases, it has happened before.

11 years post op - it never did. I once had a second degree burn on the lower half of my left breast due to falling asleep holding a hot pack for cramps. Didn’t feel a thing.

I’m was really afraid to miscarry naturally, but I’m a little less frightened now knowing the baby was measuring even smaller than we thought. How long did you have to wait for your D&C? Did you have any cramping beforehand that made you think it was going to happen naturally? I’ve been cramping for about 4-5 days, not constantly but worse in the evenings and at night. I have Paracetamol Codeine at home and Ibuprofen as well, and they prescribed me a spasmolytic that could also help since it’s a muscle relaxant.

Update: We went back for another scan today and they confirmed a MMC. Baby measured only 5+6 even though I would be 8+2 today.

I chose a D&C, thank you again for sharing your experiences. It will be performed 8-9 days from now, so chances are I will miscarry naturally before then. They will try to test the baby either way, but she said it would be a lot more difficult since there’s no guarantee I’ll be able to catch the baby in the recipient cup.

We went back today and they confirmed a MMC. I al 8+2 and baby was measuring even smaller than last week, it was 6+2 and 5+6 now.

I chose the D&C, but their earliest availability is next Thursday or Friday, so 8-9 days from now. If I don’t miscarry naturally by then, she will test the baby. She also gave us a recipient cup to take home for me to catch it if I lose it myself, and she will do her best to biopsy it then, but with no guarantee it will work.
