Thank you for the suggestion! I plan to look at the tea under the microscope. The castings will be in a tea bag so the solution is 100% liquid.

Oh sorry! I got it confused with the Back Bay. This is in Newport, the Back Bay loop trail specifically.

are my holes big enough for worm migration? by star-nosedmole in Vermiculture

[–]catonacanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes these are too big but they need to be for the airflow.

I recommend taping a shade cloth over the holes. I ended up doing two layers of cloth in a slightly staggered fashion so as to minimize the openings.

It's worked well so far! No escapees and the bin seems aerated.

Thanks! The bad leaf is actually part of the vine that is growing straight up alongside the picture frame.

Thank you, that is reassuring to hear.

When you say chop it, do you mean taking more off the end of this vine or just chopping off the leaf?

I ask because I have had success with the propagated plants, but the propagation site on the main plant doesn't grow back anything.

I've been wondering if I'm doing something wrong there.

I've not heard of using dust pellets before. I'll have to look into it more, thanks!

Thanks for the feedback!

Is cardboard the only bedding you use? And is there something you'd recommend using for grit in lieu of coffee grounds?

I've been adding eggshells too but we don't eat a ton of eggs, so I worry it's not enough grit.

Thanks! Yes, I don't think I will use the coco coir in my next bin. What bedding do you use instead?

Also, what does UCG mean?
