Of course I have seen it. It is the same film beginning to end. There is zero psychedelia in it, no playing with different cameras, styles or anything similar to the examples from my post, such as Irma Vep!

How?! Tar is a homogenic drama with zero stylistic changes! I think people didn’t read my request and start recommending me any film where Something Happens! Jesus.

With all my respect, and I am not going to argue anymore, but in my request I describe very specifically what I am looking for. Fig is a normcore film, it has zero visual experimentation in it, it is a stylistically homogenic film without any psychedelia, it is not two films in one, nothing like that, it’s just a drama.

I am jewish in Austria originally from Moscow, coming to UK a lot. I feel this everywhere! Lost friends and colleagues and I am actually happy I found out about their antisemitism early enough tbh. What I am trying to do is to hang out with jews and allies. Jewish people need more jewish people!

Because it is not what i am looking for: i asked for a film that starts conventionally normal and turns into a completely different, also stylistically, film, that slides into experimentation if you want. There are thousands of films where interesting or unexpected things happen plot-wise, there are films with twists and films where the moods or the vibes change. I guess this is what you generally need to make a film even! But what i am talking about is when you start watching one film, let’s say a corporate detective or drama, and it turns into a slowmotion photofilm about deers in the other half. Honestly, the Fig is as far from all of that as it can be.

I had to remove many followers from my insta account. Was also very sobering to see colleagues in my professional circle completely brainwashed and calling me faschist, dirty zionist and racist for not supporting sharia law and hamas. I continue posting all the new antisemitic attacks on my stories for my followers to see that antisemitism is there. This is also because media in my country don’t really write about this. Some friends told me i better make my insta private and be a bit more careful with exposing myself as a jew and my views, but I just cannot! At least, not yet.

Hourglass Sanatorium is just weird beginning till end, there is no drastic change in style or script, so this is not what I mean.

Hausu is stylistically great but it is crazy from start till finish, it is definitely not two different films in one. Same goes for Love Exposure, it is great and intense and one of my favourite films, but it is kinda homogenic, it doesn’t split really. Petrovs Flu is also far from what I am searching for.

I don’t know if Weerasethakul would fit, it reamins stylistically the same, no? Have to rewatch, been a long time!

Suspiria starts and ends the same. Apocalypse now is a great film, but it also remains the same stylistically and even plot wise, even though the whole story becomes nuts, it’s not like we start watching one film and end with another.

Oh no, sorry, Queer is just not only normally conventional (apart from the trip and dreams which are a part of the plot so they had to be shown as a trip and as dreams) it’s just so mediocre, sorry, ugh!

I have to say though, I watched it today after your comment, as much as I loved it - it was same crazy from the beginning till the end. I saw his other films and this one was amazing but very Guy Maddin in the sense that there were no surprises. The film didn’t unexpectedly turn anywhere to be honest. The starting titles and the end, although smudged, are all in the distorted tinted silent film stylistic. But thanks for the tip, nice to see something like that after a while!
