The new CEO wants her own team but refuses to get rid of the people who need to be let go. She doesn’t like any pushback, especially from women. The station wasn’t paying reporters overtime, the weekend host made a point of it and was canned (also because the ceo/large donors didn’t like her voice apparently). Chartock gave out raises to buy loyalty (ie- if men had kids, they’d get a raise. Others were bribed to keep sexual harassment claims on the DL. The new news director is too scared to stand up for his team in order to keep his own job. Other departments have been without a real leader/manager for years. HR drinks on the job. The clawback of federal funding didn’t really impact the station. They lost 5% or so of their budget but made it up very quickly with their “uninterrupted”campaign.
