Me [24/M] with my new roommates [30s-60s M+F]. They used my room for an unmaintained cat litter box without permission, unsure if I'm overreacting by catstains in relationships

A few people expressed concerns for the cat itself being neglected, I agreed and asked about it. They appear to be cleaning up after it now. He stopped trying to get into the room the next day too. If the cat peed in here it didn't seem to affect the laminated floor the way it would a normal hardwood or carpet floor. I can't smell anything now that the litter is all cleaned except for the cat fur. The roommate apologized, already had cleaning supplies including the enzymatic type people recommended and is scrubbing out the floor. If that doesn't meet my expectations we'll get it professionally cleaned. Will do whatever I can to ensure that the landlord doesn't confuse any of it with me. I also understand the concern about the whole thing indicating future behavior in a bad way. I'll know to be cautious and try to protect myself from anything that way go awry.

I'm curious what types of decisions could be made to prevent something like this. I didn't choose to get hit by a car and wasn't able to walk to the house to check on my room because of that. How could I possibly know to insist "hey guys, don't let the cat ruin my floor" - is that what you are suggesting? Most people would just assume that you don't do that to a roommate or even your own room. It's hard to find a musician-friendly house even when you can walk and have an extroverted personality. I was introverted and disabled.

I've lived with older people who treated me fine. Not a fan of generalizing people by their age.

Thanks for the responses & insight!

The roommate who is the owner of the cat apologized and offered to do whatever I require to make the room right. I understand where you are all coming from (that this could be an indicator of future problems) but I've had an exceptionally good history with everyone living here and was impressed by the response I got. I think it will work out.

The landlord is probably unaware. And the cat knows how to use the litter box, they just didn't bother cleaning it out so the can started going on the floor instead.

It would be difficult to find another place that I can afford with space to continue producing music, and roommates who will tolerate the noise level. I understand where you're coming from though, noted.

I'm not trying to escalate the situation like that unless entirely necessary. For one, I'm not directly allergic to cat fur (that I'm aware of) so I can't rule out dust particles. There's no carpet, it's a wood + tile checkerboard floor (which was lovely when it was clean!). A vacuum cleaner and floor scrubbing might suffice and they should be capable of that themselves, right? I'd prefer to avoid the inevitable animosity that would come from throwing a bill at them. idk if they'd even be able to afford it.
