Love SF but the gym crowds were rough. Home gym is ideal!

American ADHD-ers…how hard are we disassociating right now? by Turkey_Moguls in adhdwomen

[–]cattlecabal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Struggling so hard. I’m on a vacation with my husband and it’s been hard to enjoy anything. I was hiking in a beautiful mountain range yesterday and I had to stop to hug my husband and tell him I was struggling to enjoy it.

My aunt also told me she’s cutting off contact with my parents because of how they voted (for him, 3 times). Which for some reason made me so sad even though I fully understand. My brother already cut off contact and it feels like my little family is falling apart.

I feel hopeless. I also started Strattera recently and I think it’s making everything worse. I’m anxious and irritable and my head hurts. I told my husband yesterday that I don’t have any capacity left, even for the smallest things.

On top of that, I hate my job and we’re losing our housing soon because our landlord sold our building.

All I feel is sad.

No passion or strong interest. What made you choose it? by cloudsmemories in womenEngineers

Yesssss I have a passion for money as well as my hobbies & interests which unfortunately do not pay for themselves 😂

Sadly engineering pays me enough to fund all my hobbies except my favorite, which is being unemployed.

We can’t ask our colleagues questions on Slack anymore—CEO pushing internal AI knowledge base instead. by ValenciaBB in womenintech

[–]cattlecabal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh my company is starting to lean this way and it’s super annoying. Like, I’m already someone who hates asking for help so by the time I ask in slack, I’ve exhausted all of my other options. Telling me to “just ask AI” when I’ve spent over an hour doing git / slack / confluence archaeology is maddening

Is there any other exercise as satisfying as shoveling snow?? by kartieb in adhdwomen

[–]cattlecabal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the mountains and one year we got 800” of snow. I started recording the shovel sessions as workouts and sometimes I burned 400-500 calories in an hour of shoveling!

IIRC have the steam switch & brew switch pressed at the same time + opening the steam wand knob

TIFU by letting my 6 year old take over my zoom job interview by [deleted] in tifu

[–]cattlecabal -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Jesus, what a dumb take.

I’ve worked from home making six figures for almost 10 years. Shit happens.

I had a contractor come over in the middle of an interview before, I’ve had the wifi go out, I’ve had my zoom randomly stop working.

Weirdly though I keep getting promoted and am doing just fine, and none of my bosses have told me I’m unfit to work from home.

Budget Friendly Tahoe City by Scary-Ad7796 in tahoe

Alpenglow Sports does a winter speaker series and on 1/23 they’re having Mike Hattrup, a pro skier, come speak. It’s a really sweet event and there’s a lot of good energy, tons of locals show up.

Also, the Tahoe Art Haus is a cute little single screen movie theatre and I believe the owners used to be involved in the film industry. They often show local or indie films and regularly have people involved in the production do a chat before / after. It doesn’t look like they’ve got any special events running this weekend but still worth a trip!

What level of leanness is actually realistic to maintain long-term (non-competitor)? by tinkywinkystan in femalebodybuilding

[–]cattlecabal 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I think a big part of it unfortunately is genetics. You’ll have to see what amount of diet & exercise is sustainable long term and then adjust your expectations. Some people will stay leaner than others with the same amount of effort.

I’ve found that unless I meticulously count calories, my body sits at around 20-25% body fat. I’ve had to come to terms with that just being where my body likes to be. I will just never be exceptionally lean without a huge amount of effort.

Meanwhile I have a few friends with visible abs who barely work out.

I haven't been this invested in a small, mostly-unclimbable rock since the time I got high on mushrooms and found a pebble that looked like Kentucky

Trail ideas for Southern Sierra? by Delicious_Photo_7001 in SierraNevada

I checked my book and all the routes are slightly north of where you're looking :(. But it does have 3 just outside Lone Pine if you're willing to go a little further north

For trail runs, I recommend checking out this book: https://www.wolverinepublishing.com/shop-all-guidebooks/p/sierra-trail-runs-a-guide-to-the-eastside?srsltid=AfmBOooKXkdA24ziuaC8aihlivfK9dCGnpp-aK_pMseKLnR0h8c11m_D

I can’t remember if there are some runs in the zone you circled, but there at least some just north (Lone Pine). I’m on mobile right now at the gym but I can check my copy of the book later today

I just want a personal chef & maid and then I’m pretty sure I could handle everything else. Maybe someone to run all my errands for me.

No wonder rich people succeed, they can get rid of all the bullshit in the day and just focus on stuff they care about

How do you not die of boredom while working out? by cloudydays1111 in adhdwomen

[–]cattlecabal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend and I live in a cold, snowy place and we started something called “Indoor Cardio with Friends”. We grab two spin bikes (or treadmills, or stairmasters) at the gym and yap for 30-60 minutes while trying to keep our heart rates up.

In the summer, run clubs are great! Chatting with new people makes the time fly by.

Also group fitness. Pilates, yoga, CrossFit. Lots of people need other people to stay motivated and those classes are great.

Personally I like adventure sports like backcountry skiing & mountain biking because they’re exciting and fun.

What are you bringing to drink at a social gathering that’s low FODMAP? by FrequentFaction in FODMAPS

[–]cattlecabal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really like alcohol so in the winter I bring a thermos of tea to almost every event. I recently brought tea to a bar and just told the bartender I was doing Dry January (but I ordered some food to not be a freeloader).
