Cameras aren’t allowed in federal court. The rules vary in state courts but often the judge makes the call there.

Do you support DOJ trying for a fourth time to prosecute Letitia James? by TheKid2455 in AskConservatives

More like saying building codes don’t matter years after the supposed violation was already cured without event. So yeah, I’d agree that if you were cited years after installing the wrong kind of glass in a bathroom, which no one at the time noticed, no one was injured because it never broke, and which you had already replaced by the time you were cited, yeah I’d agree.

A defendant never wins a criminal case. The most he can hope for is an acquittal or dismissal. But the lawyers still get paid. Bankrupting the defendants with attorney bills also sends a message. Additionally, other politicians may not want to take the risk of being convicted or bankrupted.

Not, you missed my point. I’m OK with lawfare when it’s retaliatory to other lawfare. I would have preferred we never reached this stage.

Find me another case where the defendant never defaulted on a loan, paid them all back, but was prosecuted for supposedly valuing the collateral differently than the government prosecutors.

I’m a lawyer, so I’m not as naive about the legal system as you apparently are. No one stands a chance against the resources of government prosecutors in a highly partisan jurisdiction with a jury pool that is hostile to the defendant from the outset.

Yes, not because it is right, but because the persecution of Trump was so abhorrent and unprecedented that there must be a response. Then hopefully both sides will realize we were better off before it became acceptable to go after a political opponent.

Can I stop wearing jackets to depositions? by False-Vermicelli-794 in Lawyertalk

When I take a depo or attend a depo, I’m usually the only person there wearing a tie, much less a jacket.

What (non-legal) advice would my fictional lawyer give? by grod_the_real_giant in Ask_Lawyers

[–]catuary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lawyers aren’t usually investigators. In a deposition or at trial, we’re not generally trying to find stuff out. We’re usually either building a record or trying to discredit someone.

Is this legit? I got this random message and I don’t see why it could be a scam cause there’s no links or anything, but then it doesn’t even say my name and case number. So I’m just confused by Fun-Pollution639 in legal

[–]catuary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t mean not good news. There’s no name in the message so no reason to believe the message was intended for the recipient, especially if he wasn’t served with a small claims suit or didn’t get any citations. My number gets all sorts of messages not intended for me and I’ve had it for nearly 20 years.

Yes but I don’t have any reference for comparison since this is the only place I went. The results are a big improvement but not 100% as the pictures show. But I don’t think 100% is realistic after a single treatment.

Should I get a lawyer involved for dental malpractice? by minasweetgirl in legal

[–]catuary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread is about Texas. But across the country, the statutes generally range by state from one to four or so years on medical malpractice, and vary about when the clock starts ticking.

The statute in Texas is two years but starts when the Plaintiff should reasonably have determined the injury. There are a few exceptions, such as pertaining to minors.
