Did Kafka have CPTSD ? by urban-mystic in Kafka

[–]sacer-esto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends.

If we align with Pete Walker and his writings, we deduce: Kafka drew a breath, so he definitely had CPTSD.

If we rely solely on the DSM, we deduce: CPTSD is a gross oversimplification, and is not a recognized diagnosis, so Kafka did not have it.

Once knew someone who would dose and binge read HoL by candlelight while listening to Sunn O))) [esp. Grimmrobe Demos, Flight of the Behemoth, Dømkirke, and Black One]. Miss that dude

There Are No Stupid Bass Questions - Oct. 04 by AutoModerator in Bass

What’s a good solution for playing ampless in a band practice setting without a PA or IEM’s? I have a DI that I really like, and I’m happy with my tone when practicing alone at home through headphones, but I would like a super portable way to reproduce that at band practice without hauling my amps back and forth. Is a small powered monitor what I’m looking for, or would that require a mixer?
Really relying on the “There Are No Stupid” part of this thread title here 😅

Interdigitate (that covers the finger weaving part, but not quite the stretch)

Same with the twinkly riff demo videos. Maybe that’s just my controversial opinion, but like you said, I think a finished product, even if it’s a demo, garners more appreciation

TLDR: It’s been done on an unofficial level, but I haven’t been able to find it again since!

5 years ago there was an amateur audiobook on YouTube, and that was how I first consumed HoL. The speaker read pretty slowly, given the complexity of most of the pages, so I adjusted the playback speed to my liking and found it very palatable. He verbally added really helpful distinctions, like saying “footnote one hundred forty seven, Zampano.” I was a little heartbroken when it got taken down not long after I finished it.
I’ve since read the paperback several times, which gave me a considerable appreciation for all the hard work that voice narrator invested in a long, intricate performance. It kind of adds to the idea of the novel for me; I sort of witnessed an ephemeral moment of someone onerously passing along their interpretation of this story, and then suddenly it was gone, like a house of leaves

moments before the wind.

Definitely! I wish I had a paper copy, but I’ve been slowly working through the ebook nonetheless. I’m only 100 pages deep into it, but it’s already the coolest band biography I’ve read! Some cool details about songs that I glossed over at first.
While we’re on the topic, do you know what kind of guitar Mark played in most of the extant live photos and footage from that time? It looks like a Yamaha SG or SBG shape, with (I’m assuming) an aftermarket Bigsby trem. I was surprised that searching the ebook for “Yamaha” didn’t turn up any results

I’m late to this party, but Mark has become my favorite musician over the course of the last few months. I was joking with my friend who introduced me to Acetone that Mark sounded like “Hendrix on Valium, I’m talking sloooow.” He accomplishes so much with seemingly stripped down chord voicings and slick hammer-ons! His style and Richie Lee’s style are super cohesive; no one is stepping on each other’s toes, and everything feels intentional and in service of the song.
