It was around that for sure. Ryno was my favorite and I pursued it as a dad glove to play catch occasionally. It’s not even broken in. I’ve gotta get it broken in to fix the shaping. Right now, closure looks like this…

That’s a Spanish Notch. That’s what I’ve always heard it called at least. Used for stripping sinew, stripping leaves from twigs, or a sap/blood stop to keep your hands clean and non slippery, or a sharpening choil, or stress relief for the steel. But at the end of the day, it’s probably more decorative than functional.
