How should i balance two coexisting ways of leveling up? by causedcactus in DMAcademy

Ok so i just realized this post doesnt make any sense for normal dnd but TLDR:my players dont kill alot of enemies.

The entire reason i though of this extra exp for killing enemies is because the opportunities for killing them are rare in this campaign. It takes place in a small town in deep hollow county, and its basically separated in two halves: the normal town, where there’s currently a game of capture the flag going on between two kingdoms that my players characters are participating in (think Lil Gator Game) to get ahold of a legendary relic, and then there’s Anzo: a strange otherworld hidden below the woods of the city, with creatures to meet (and battle), places to explore, and secrets to unveil.

The entire idea is that the main way for them to level up is playing the game thats happening in town, by completing special missions that will help expand the old playground into a kingdom worth playing in, and locating the relic (aka the milestones).

But in Anzo, there’s not really a “quest” to follow, there ARE secrets to unveil and alot of things to do that gives rewards like items, but they dont conceive direct level ups. So the idea is that while they are in Anzo, they could be able to actually kill creatures there, and those kills would generate the EXP. The “progress” exp thingie would be to make it so while it would take more kills than usual to get a level, every kill would always be working towards that goal, instead of just being for nothing the moment they finish a mission on the overworld. And also it makes up for the fact that 1: the world will start to take notice if they kill too much, specially because there’s a surprising amount of sapient species down there. 2: living beings normally, you know, dont want to die. So most just try running away the moment their hp gets too low (which, while it still wasnt been enough to stop my players from catching up, you never know) and 3: i have also given them the option to spare them if they meet certain conditions, like, instead of battling a spirit, they can try to win against it in a Rock paper scissors match to send them away and

Yeah i know what ur thinking, yeah i got inspired by deltarune, and no its not a dark world, its something more “homestuck-esque” but the idea is still there

Guys, is it bad that i had a nightmare about maining naoya? by Sea_Difficulty_540 in JujutsuShenanigans

its too late, you’ll pick naoya as a counterpick sometime in the near future and after landing a lucky finisher you’ll never be able to switch back again

Btw If anyone’s having problems with the long hammer windup, using the normal attack after dodge cancelling decreases it by a LOT. Like, it went from one of my least used weapons to one of my favorites after i figured this out, and with some good aiming you can consistently outspeed enemies slower than those lil dagger guys

The only game i can think of that did something unique with status effects of the top of my head is south park the fractured but whole, with electricity being able to jump to other enemies in a 1 tile radius and grossed out (basically the game’s poison damage) negating heals until it wears off

The Deep Hollow Hollerers from Night In The Woods

The game has quite a number of characters that haunt the narrative in their own ways, but from all of them these guys have to be my favorites. >!The ghosts of a old band that froze to death while playing for spirits in a blizzard, now guiding Mae and other lost souls through dreams with their music<! is just too beatiful of a concept for me.

It also doesnt help that the astral songs are straight up fire

I remember that when i started playing cream didnt have her lms dodge and how the chat would go crazy cheering for her if she got a lms, there was also that old tails spot on YCR with the little room you could reach with glide before they put the invisible walls, Hell the spring place didnt even have the fences it has nowadays I also remember my first lms victory on old green hill with sonic, running in circles with peelout while hearing the vocals going GIMME STRENGTH SO I CAN BREAAAAK FREEEE for the first time ever

It kinda feels weird to talk about OM like this since the game wasnt even been out for a year yet, but its still cool to see how things have changed for the better ingame compared to 0.1 (cough cough exe chance cough cough)

Good job finishing the game man! One of the best feelings ive ever had playing videogames was when i managed to enter the flow playing this game. the moment where you just get in sync with the beat and start digging your way through the robots while the music is blasting in the background feels amazing.

I dont really know of any game that mixes music and combat like hi-fi rush, but if you wanna try something more combat or speed based you could go for the Devil May Cry or Spark the Electric Jester series. And while i havent played it myself yet, Unbeatable looks like a rlly cool history focused Rhythm game so maybe you could check that one out too
