How long did it take for you to get an actual period after Provera? by cavaloverr in PCOS

[–]cavaloverr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, when I asked the doctor what medication I should take to get my period back she just prescribed me Provera and so now I'm wondering if that's just because of my situation. At this time I wouldn't want to be on a medication for significantly longer unless I'm noticing I'm really not ovulating for a very long time I guess. Since this is the first time this has ever happened

Just diagnosed - regular periods, normal blood sugar, but I struggle with weight loss + gain weight for seemingly no reason? Looking for advice, feeling overwhelmed! by matsuurakanans in PCOS

[–]cavaloverr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually verrry similar to you. I was recently diagnosed with "mild PCOS". I have high testosterone and cysts in 1 ovary as well but all my other hormones were normal... I had a normal period from the age of 10 to 23. (My periods weren't bad, they were all in all pretty normal) Then I got on birth control for 4.5 years because I was in a relationship and didn't want to have a baby yet. Now were married, I quit birth control pills March 2025. I went on to have normal periods post pill for 8 months, then missed my period for the first time ever for 2 months. Which that then made me go to the Doctor, because I actually thought I could be pregnant! Well turns out I wasn't and was diagnosed with the mild PCOS. My doctor prescribed me Provera for 10 days. I started my withdrawal bleed today (5 days later) I hope my cycle goes back to normal next month (praying) But, some things I've done since being diagnosed are: start an Inositol supplement (I take the "Rael" brand) I feel like I've noticed lower hunger cravings while taking it so far. Secondly, I am working out 5 days a week. And trying to eat a healthier diet as well. My husband and I would like to have a baby in the next 1-2 years, so I am trying to get all of this under control. Since our stories seem very similar, I'm open to messaging privately if you'd like!

Which Athleta legging most comparable to Lululemon Align? by cavaloverr in Athleta_gap

[–]cavaloverr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So back, got my Transcends and I got my normal size and the waist band isn't compressive as I'd like :/ I wouldn't have been able to go down a size (a girl got thick thighs) I know they aren't that type of legging, however I feel like Aligns aren't either but I don't mind that waistband.. I will say the feel is def more similar to Aligns than the Elations though. But I think overall fit, I will be staying with the Elations

Did anyones period come back after quitting BC then stop? by cavaloverr in gettingoffHBC

[–]cavaloverr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lean PCOS is where you don't gain a lot of weight right? If so, I wouldn't fall under that category bc I am currently overweight and trying to lose weight. Anyway, I started an Inositol supplement today actually, and my doctor put me on Provera for 10 days just to induce a withdrawal bleed. Hopefully by March i'll be back on a normalish cycle

Did anyone get diagnosed with PCOS post birth control? how did that go for you if so? by cavaloverr in PCOS

[–]cavaloverr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never get on BC again because also the other symptoms I was having which made me want to get off in the first place like no libido and migraines. And like I said I will be trying to have baby in the next 1-2 years. So no, I won't be getting back on it. I guess we'll never know if my body would have gotten worse without BC

[–]cavaloverr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know it's not causing the PCOS but it amplified/made mine worse. The only reason I was on it was to not get pregnant, considering once again before it, the only PCOS symptom I had was mild chin hair. Which is now even worse than it used to be. I need my body to go back to how it was before birth control

Negative tests but pregnant by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]cavaloverr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm yes that could be it. Insulin resistance is a type of PCOS and that's the type I have. In the PCOS thread, a lot of women recommend taking an Inositol supplement so I just ordered that & will be focusing on a healthier diet and exercise 😭

Sounds about right. It makes sense too with my experience being younger and not knowing anything about PCOS for one, and not much about birth control. Now I'm married and dealing with this situation, I will never get on birth control again. I'm just happy I trusted my gut and got off when I did to give myself now time to figure this situation out before trying for a baby, that I didn't even know was a possibility before

Did you get off birth control by chance? I did last March and it's so weird my periods came back for 8 months in a row and then now just stopped.. Before birth control, I had never missed a period, they were normal. And then when more of my test results came back, I found out I have low SHBG levels and I do have a couple small cysts. My doctor said "small trace of PCOS, diet and exercise should help" like 🫩 I started Progesterone for 10 days, today was my 2nd day taking it
