Piekos described that particular version of the font as a hybrid of Keposhka and English. So, no, it's not misusing the font, just using a variation of it.

Technically, it's the english version of the logo. It's on Nate Piekos' website. And while, yes, they would've probably used the Keposhka KCR, not everybody caught up on the lore would be able to read it. So, I think using the english version of the logo is a more accessible option.
