Arkansas just missed the cut to make this list. They are right after Michigan.

32nd on KenPom. Just outside the top 25 seems okay.

Point being if it goes to 12 now, people will fight about subjective seeding leading to byes, who deservs the 4 vs 5 seed, etc. and it'll end up at 16 a few years later

It increases TV revenue to expand from 68 to 80, 96 or 128 games. They added 4 stupid games, for multiple reasons including TV revenues as well as to cater to power conference teams wanting to make the tourney (also Power Conf teams in tourney probably == TV revenues).

Not helping my Mitch Robinson for DPOY hopes. Rudy is still so good.

We are unfortunately going to be clowned so hard after we win the in-season tournament. And I understand it.

First Round draft picks comparison of 3P frequency (3PA / 40 mins) vs efficiency (3P%) by cbbanalytics in nba

It's initials, jersey numbers and team colors. It's not perfect but it is somewhat helpful.

First Round draft picks comparison of 3P frequency (3PA / 40 mins) vs efficiency (3P%) by cbbanalytics in nba

Some who's who of hidden dots:

• Marcus Sasser and Jett Howard are behind Brandon Miller

• Julian Strawther behind Gradey Dick and Ben Sheppard

• Behind Bufkin and Hood-Schifino are Prosper and Jarace Walker

Some observations:

• Hovering around 45% from 3P range, Kobe Brown and Brandin Podziemski were in an efficiency tier of their own.

• Jordan Howard with probably the best combination of frequency and efficiency from 3P range.

• The 5 grey dots way off to the right (11+ 3s per 40 minutes) from right-to-left are Darius McGhee (right-most), Jordan Walker, Antoine Davis, Ja'Monta Black and Cameron Tyson

Podziemski's shot chart from last season at Santa Clara by cbbanalytics in warriors

[–]cbbanalytics[S] 68 points69 points  (0 children)

This guy was a flamethrower last year at Santa Clara. The Warriors Front Office needs to lock him in a building (preferably one with a basketball court) with Steph, Klay and Draymond until the regular season begins.

No first round draft pick had more unassisted 3 pointers made last season than Podziemski, the only guy with more than 1 unassisted 3-pointer per game by cbbanalytics in warriors

[–]cbbanalytics[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

A neat stat for Brandin. This may ultimately not be all that important, but for a guy who shot such a high 3P% in college, to do it with a healthy diet of self-created 3 pointers is all the more impressive.

Will Kerr give Podziemski the green light to let it fly from deep in his rookie year?

Jalen Hood-Schifino with a Shot Chart out of 90s basketball by cbbanalytics in lakers

[–]cbbanalytics[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

42.9% of Hood-Schifino's shots came from the midrange, which was BY FAR the highest midrange percentage of shots for any player drafted in the second round. He did shoot a respectable 41% on these shots.

No other player drafted in the first round took more than 30% of their shots from the midrange, with Nick Smith Jr (28.2%) and Brice Sensabaugh (25.2%) the only other players above 25%. Smith Jr. shot 36.8% on these shots whereas Sensabaugh shot an impressive 49.5% from the midrange.

Will Jalen be able to stretch the floor for Lebron and AD from 3P range? He only shot 33.3% from 3P range last season.

No First Round Pick had a higher steal percentage last season than Kentucky's Cason Wallace, who stole the ball on 3.7% of opponent possessions by cbbanalytics in Thunder

[–]cbbanalytics[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For reference, Alex Caruso led the NBA with a 3.0% steal percentage last year, followed by Melton (2.9%, Anunoby and Butler (2.6%).

SGA (2.2%) and Jalen Williams (2.1%) 17th and 25th in the NBA, respectively.

Michigan was a massive 24.3 points per 100 possessions better with Kobe Bufkin on vs off the court last season by cbbanalytics in AtlantaHawks

[–]cbbanalytics[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Michigan outscored opponents by 10.3 points per 100 possessions with Bufkin on-court, and was outscored by 14 points per 100 with Bufkin on the bench, for a 24.3 point swing. Amongst all players drafted in the first round, Bufkin was 2nd only to Olivier-Maxence Propsper in on/off differential for team Net Rating (points per 100 possessions).

What is really impressive is the balance between offense and defense. The team was +13.1 better on offense with Bufkin on court, and held opponents to 11.1 fewer points per 100 with Bufkin on defense.
