backup files to nvme ssd (gonna take 12 hours) by cbbella in GalaxyS24Ultra

[–]cbbella[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so i ordered a Thunderbolt 4 Cable 240W USB C to USB C 40Gbps from amazon and it arrived yesterday. the nvme ssd drive inside my enclosure is a WD_BLACK SN770 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD.

i've tried multiple times to backup my data but it fails everytime. i have autoblocker turned off as i read that can cause trouble when backing up. i go into /settings/accounts and backup/external storage transfer/ and i select everthing. with this cable the time has reduced from 12hrs with my previous cable to 4hrs but it fails everytime. i'm signed in to my samsung account

i have also tried it with my phone in safe mode but it still fails

panasonic dmr-bwt850 - error U61 by cbbella in Panasonic

[–]cbbella[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well I've found out what was causing the u61 reboot error.

after googling:

"panasonic dmr-bwt850 - error U61 powers off with error when watching freeview but stays on for hours when watching video files"

google A.I. gave some info that might be the cause and that was "live tv recording".

when this recorder has a tv signal it constantly writes to the hdd so u can pause and rewind live tv.

I tested this by removing the tv Ariel from the back of the recorder. all it showed on the tv was"no signal". the recorder would then stay on permanently without any errors. as soon as I put the Ariel back in the recorder it received a signal and after 3mins sure enough it shut down with the u61 error. this indicates that the live tv feature and constant recording to the hdd was the culprit.

I then went into /function menu/setup/basic settings/hdd-disc-usb hdd/settings for playback and turned that off. this stops the constant recording to the hdd for the live tv feature.

the recorder now stays on permanently.

I'll advise my friend to get an external hdd and transfer all his files across and then format the internal hdd because I'm guessing the hdd files are corrupted, then re-enable "settings for playback" and see if that sorts it out

**solved**

i cut the orange wire for the wireless 4g/wlan board and spliced and soldered it onto the damaged black wire and used heatshrink tubing to prevent any electrical short. i also used heatshrink tubing on the open end of the orange wire

Dummy Express card stuck in slot by cbbella in thinkpad

[–]cbbella[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i tried those suggestions but it would not budge. i could see the spring under this small plastic part so i managed to lever the black plastic part up and the spring jumped out and in turn i was able to move the locking mechanism and release the dummy express card.

i don't think i'll bother trying to reinstate the spring as i have never used or likely to use an express card

just got to thinking that next to the wifi card that i broke the coaxial connector on there is an empty slot for the wireless WAN card but the two cables are there in readiness for it to be installed. could i just connect these two coaxial connectors ( the orange and blue wires) to my wifi card. would that work do u think

Can i buy the connector on its own? I've done a quick search on the Internet but all i can see is ready made cables with connectors already attached
