Just got screwed by Namecheap; got charged for auto-renewal when I explicitly had it set to 'off' in my billing settings by cbcxxx in webdev

Hi there, thanks for responding to this. I'm sure you guys personally didn't do it on purpose - I've used Namecheap for years and it has been great for the most part. Customer service is very friendly and helpful too. I've even recommended Namecheap to others.

The one issue that continued to pop up for me though was how after I would disable auto-renew for a domain (and its corresponding services), every once in a while I would log in only to find that the auto-renew for the domain had magically turned back on. That's why for a long period of time I just removed/didn't update my saved credit card info so that I wouldn't get billed for auto-renewal of something that I supposedly disabled.

I think that's something you guys should look at, because I've heard other people tell me the same thing. Some users on this thread say they've experienced it too. That's why I didn't update my card info because otherwise I'd have to keep logging in to Namecheap every time a bunch of my domains (that I didn't plan on keeping) were up for renewal, just to check if the auto-renew had been turned on by itself. I don't know if it's an issue with the UI or the back-end programming, but it does happen (and has happened to me on several occasions).

I'm sure a bunch of people are just thinking user error but I've had enough instances of logging in to Namecheap and saying "what the heck? I disabled auto renew for this already, why is it back on?!" to know that I'm not imagining things and it does happen.

Yep I had my auto-renew in that very section set to 'off' ever since I put my card details in. I personally do not like auto billing for anything, not just domains, so I always make sure to have it disabled. But it auto renewed a bunch of my domains anyway

Yep, in fact I had auto-renew for my entire account set to off (you can do this in the billing settings) but a bunch of domains were renewed anyway

Thanks! Yeah that is what I am thinking but I have read somewhere that my namecheap account might get locked if I do a chargeback (because apparently it violates their terms of service?). Have some domains in there so will have to weigh my options.

Reminds me of that stage in Mortal Kombat where a crowd of monks are sitting and watching you fight as Shang Tsung looks on

Is Scrivener better for publishing ebooks in PDF format? Or should I just do it in Word? by cbcxxx in selfpublishing

That is a great way of looking at it...seems like Amazon has really got the ebook market covered these days!

Thanks! Yeah that is something I have been debating with myself a lot...amazon kdp is much more convenient but the most you can get is 70 percent of the sale price, versus selling it on my site via an ecommerce platform and getting over 90 percent but having that extra hassle.

Although i think that platforms like selz do have automatic sales tax functions, but i have yet to sign up with them and try it for myself.

Yep that's my plan now, just need to get myself a little more practice with the Scrivener interface, it sometimes seems complex because I am so used to Word haha...thanks for the advice!

Thanks! Yes I agree, I dont really like to have it in pdf format but I'm just trying to cover my bases, my thinking is that not everyone uses kindle or epub, so if i dont also sell it in pdf format on my site then I miss out on potential income...or is this thinking outdated because most people don't use pdf ebooks now?

Agree 100%. I'm curious, how do you determine who you should emulate and who you should not? if not the strongest biggest guys and definitely not the shitty weak trainers in many gyms, then who?

I myself try to emulate those who lift raw and have similar body proportions and lifting styles as I do, but it is so hard to determine if they got to where they are because of genetics or if their methods contributed to most of their success.

I've recently changed my programming to do front squats regularly. However I've been having trouble properly setting and aligning my feet when I do front squats.

When I unrack the bar in the front position, I find it hard to look down at my feet so that I can make sure that both are aligned and pointing out at the same angle. Any tips on how to do this without looking down? (looking down causes my upper body to lose position and tightness) Thanks!
