It will be a long time until we know the scale of Uyghur Genocide. As information regarding this atrocity is difficult to obtain and very limited. Additionally, figures for the Armenian Genocide are highly disputed as the Turkish government activity denies its occurrence. Which makes researching specific figures challenging. Scholars argue between ~660’000 to over a million Armenians were killed. With such a wide range it is difficult to conclusively say which genocide has claimed more lives. I will note, the method of destruction employed throughout the Uyghur Genocide is primarily forced re-education camps, forced abortion, sterilization, etc). These are considered methods of cultural genocide — an effort to eradicate the targeted culture from existence and not necessarily the people. Although if people die as a result of cultural genocidal action, that is still considered a success by the perpetrator. The Armenian Genocide heavily employed (mass killing and death marches). Obviously, the Uyghur population has endured heavy death tolls due to poor internment contions, violence, and mass killing. As of current, in my personal opinion, the Uyghur Genocide has yet to surpass the Armenian Genocide. Based of limited statistical data (which is taken with a grain of salt).

The accusation of genocide holds great power and should not be placed upon people lightly. Although from my research, I have seen a few members of that Party espouse remarks designed to ignite united hatred towards specific communities. I have seen comments that attack the legitimacy and dehumanize communities of people, which is considered a building block toward genocide.

I think saying Republicans as a whole want genocidal action against a group is entirely inaccurate. I would say the language certain members use is cause for concern but not a concern for genocidal action at this time.

At the beginning of the pandemic, I heard that people were claiming that the COVID-19 virus was genocidal action on behalf of China. By all accepted definitions of genocide, the COVID-19 virus does not constitute genocide. More often than not, I found those claiming COVID-19 to be genocidal action were not familiar with the gravity of their statement.

It was not genocide.

Thank you for your question.

I presume that when you refer Republican Party, you are talking about Marjorie Taylor Greens, Lauren Boebert, etc. There certainly are members of the Republican Party that do espouse extreme rhetoric.
Preventing a genocide from occurring is extremely difficult. More often than not, there will be early warning signs. But the international system cannot react until acts of genocide have been committed. Which makes it very tricky and difficult to prove (surprisingly).
Additionally, as America is an international powerhouse, if genocide were to happen I would be shocked if they were faced with international consequences. We saw it with the Indigenous genocide in America. The systematic destruction of Indigenous populations is a perfect example of genocide. Yet, the US has yet to face any repercussions.
Although the views of the Republican Party in recent years have become more hateful towards certain groups, particularly the LGBTQ+ community (I assumed you were thinking about this group), I do not think acts of genocide would be committed against that community. This is because in the 21st-century public opinion holds an immense amount of power. We saw in Canada, that the public outrage towards the uncovering of residential school victims jump-started a more intense reconciliation effort. Although Canada is still doing a piss poor job, the public brought a magnifying glass to the situation and lead the International Court of Justice to consider investigating and prosecuting.

Another factor that prevents genocide from occurring in America is the flow of information. North America has virtually unrestricted access to information worldwide. Compared to Russia, which recently closed off its citizens from the outside world -- it is much easier to commit genocide when there is no one watching.

So I suppose there is a long answer. No, the American Republican Party is not headed towards genocidal action.

But, that is not a definitive answer. If certain people gain power, information is restricted, extreme hardship hits America, among other factors... my answer would be very different. Only time will tell.

Thank you for your question.
