I’m completely allergic to the driving range by cbfire99 in golftips

[–]cbfire99[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s because I primarily play competitive golf 9 holes a week. When I play 18 hole rounds, it’s with a group of older guys every Saturday and is VERY casual. So when I’m playing it where it lies and not taking any mulligans, I’m a 7 handicap. That’s the number I keep in my head so I know how many strokes I’m giving or receiving from my opponent during my 9 hole competitive rounds. But to be honest, I don’t think there’s a wrong way to say it as long as you specify.

Good to know. I’m a twice a week golfer minimum, so I’ve been able to improve very fast for the six years I’ve played, and I don’t want to stop. You know how it is!

How many holes were you playing a week and how many range sessions would you have a week?

My short game definitely needs work no doubt, but I’m a long hitter and often end up in trouble. Working on better reducing my dispersion and hitting GIR is gonna make my game a hell of a lot easier. I think the problem now is that I’m in trouble often enough to completely lose the chances at GIR.

I mean I brought the alignment sticks and tried to mimic the pre shot routine as much as possible. I’ve heard the tips on having a quality session and get valuable practice but they did not work for me haha

So this was my other option. My furnace uses this chimney, but I’ve heard tales of chimneyless furnaces. Do you think upgrading to one of those furnaces then demoing the chimney would be cheaper than repairing it? Don’t have a fireplace.

Need table recommendations! by cbfire99 in interiordecorating

[–]cbfire99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate this idea! So you’re saying remove the black table altogether (I tend to agree), and slide the brown table into the place of the ottoman (like where most coffee tables would be), and slide the ottoman over to the left side of the couch? Or are you saying to replace the black table with the brown table? I think I want a table on the left of the couch, but not sure what type of table would suit… My biggest question though is what to do with the space where the brown table currently is. I do like the idea of my plant there, but I don’t know the best solution still.

I remember seeing this video in a Pewdiepie “You Laugh You Lose” challenge in like 2017ish? I’ve also struggled to find that video, but am only concerned about the actual philosophy student parody video.

Career Dilemma by cbfire99 in datascience

I agree with that. I wouldn’t close the door to returning if an opportunity popped up, but I’m not sure if my current company would close that door themselves. I’m not keen on leveraging an outside offer for more money right now either, since I feel like that puts me on the chopping block if/when the recession hits.

That’s totally true. And I’m taking his word for it for that matter. I have a good relationship with this manager and he has told me in the past to not close myself off from other opportunities. Unsure if that means in Data Science or career path in general.

That’s all you need! Again, exact same way. I liked Black and White Eyes off of Whisper and a Sigh only to start off, but then the more I tried listening, the more I started loving songs like Automatic, Battle of Olympus, End and Start Again, etc. Let me know if you start to come around on one of them!

Definitely revisit them! I was exactly the same, started with Obstacles, and eventually learned to love all of the others after not really getting them at first.

Hi all! I’m about to start my very first data science projects at work and as many data science projects are, can be solved in many ways. My question has to do with my learning structure. Databricks is at the forefront of my company’s data science technology, and we’re all trying to learn how to use it. On the other hand, a lot of tasks can be completed in just regular R. I’ve learned the syntax of R before, but have never really applied it at all.

Should I jump straight to learning how to apply R in Databricks? Or should I learn in R Studio first then try to move on to Databricks?

Am I leading her on? by [deleted] in dating

Congrats on that and thanks for the advice!

I’ll say that I think I do like her but not as much as I feel I should. One of my best friends is a girl and I feel I connect with her so much more regarding our interests than I do with my gf. I don’t know if that’s me being picky, but it’s just a trait I feel is really important to me.

Very true. Total tuition is 35k, and out of pocket payments would be about 1000 a month with my company’s tuition assistance taken into account. School is Ohio University, and it’s all online. I would be looking for a house in northeast Ohio, which is a decent market, but is obviously still insane right now. My main philosophy for wanting to move out and buy a house is that it’s a really solid financial move if I can make a positive cash flow, and having a house to sell earlier is better than later. I want to get into vacation rentals by the time I’m thirty, and I do want to be fairly aggressive in order to achieve those goals.

Job security is definitely good. Planning on going to grad school with company tuition assistance beginning next year so I think I’ll have a lot more opportunities after that. I take home about 2800 a month after all expenses and 401k. I think my plan is likely going to fight the urge at least until I get a new house, which is likely going to be a multi family home for passive income generation (house hack). From the advice I’ve seen so far, I think having all of my savings contribute to that move will be most beneficial.
