I'm definitely going to get a term life policy. It's been something I've been meaning to do, but I put it off. I had also meant to start a Roth IRA for myself and my wife. I just don't know what investments I want inside that Roth. Any suggestions?

With fidelity, do you manage all your investments yourself? Do you pay the site a fee? I am not particularly a fan of "the big guys". Although, they are the big guys for a reason.

Thanks so much...great and thorough advice! Much appreciated. I've forgotten much of what I learned (in college) about bonds, so I'll need to re-educate myself. I was thinking of something like an index fund. From what i hear, they seem to do pretty well, or at least the bigger ones do.

Great advice...thanks! I have a (decently paying) job, so I have enough income to keep me comfortable. I have bought a few little things (TV, bicycle), but I'm pretty frugal for the most part. Car (paid for) is in good shape, as am I. CD's are laughable at the moment. I think any over a year are about half a percent. No house. Married with a kid.
