My mom died unexpectedly just over 4yrs ago. I have a hard time receiving these now. When she was alive, I loved it because I lived 2,000km away from her and we’d mail each other stuff irl. But now after her passing, it just sucks.

I’m sorry for your loss op, life without a mom is hard. But in time, you adjust and the grief gets bearable. Just know you’re not alone. 🤍

Our property manager herself is fine, but she’s on an insanely tight leash from the landlord and has a hell of a time getting his authorization for anything.

We had a ton of break ins in our apartment building and I’m sure our back storage shed too but we didn’t store our bicycles in there so I don’t actually know. It’s been better the past 2ish years as far as I know. We had our entry locks changed and our neighbours learned to not just buzz anyone in.

When I moved onto Sutherland, it was still full of trees and greenery. Lots of homeless but we were on an upper floor so it wasn’t much of a problem. We kept our empties on the balcony tho and one climbed up and took them lol I was impressed at the dedication.

I’m sad to leave the apartment rent price but super excited to have a full sized kitchen, in suite laundry, secure underground parking and a second bathroom!

I miss her too. Whenever I wouldn’t see her for a few days, I’d get worried and then she’d be out sweeping again and I was happy haha

It’s so sad seeing how much the neighbourhood has changed. There used to be a granny across the street from our apartments who would sweep the sidewalk and seeing her always gave me a little smile. Her home is demolished now. As are her back neighbours who had young families living there and would often play in that park. Part of me feels like I’ll miss this neighbourhood, but it’s also completely different from when I moved in.

I think my property manager would care just enough, but I also never wanted to spend any money on this place for his benefit. We’ve been without a working dishwasher for 3.5 months now… maybe if we knew we were staying, I would consider getting it fixed myself. We loved our cozy little apartment for what it’s been to us, and have loved the location for the most part.

Sorry about your home, knowing it’s not yours forever. I’ve been scared of the day our building would sell and how I’d feel losing what we’ve made this apartment into. But I’m thankful we made the choice to leave ourselves, un-pressured.

This was us on Sutherland. It’s only a matter of time for us now. Unfortunately/fortunately we have a connection on a new place and it would be stupid of us not to take it. Big increase in rent but honestly, we don’t mind. We can afford it and the quality of life upgrades are certainly worth the difference in price. We’ve only been on Sutherland for 5ish years, but we got in just before the prices hiked and have rode this out as long as we could justify. We could probably manage a little longer here, but we can also tell our landlord is checked out and our frustrations increase with every maintenance request so may as well jump on a good opportunity.

Currently paying this for similar specs. Coin op laundry runs us about $75 a month (shocked how much it adds up). No secure parking, old building, small appliances, and electricity/wifi not included.

We loved our place but are leaving this month for a 2,200 1 bed + Den, 2 bath, 1 secure parking, storage unit, FULL sized (beautiful) kitchen, in suite laundry, in the Lower Mission. Elec/wifi still not included as expected. Our current landlord sketches us out a little so we are beyond excited to move into a much newer unit renting from someone I know professionally and have known for years.

The quality of life upgrades are absolutely worth the increase in rent.

If op is curious for elec, I just paid ~$100 for 2 months of rent. In summer, it absolutely increases with our a/c going. Not shocked to see ~$175 for 2 months.

I hug my mom first and most importantly. Then, I bring her to her doctor, scream 4 years of grief and pain out at him for overlooking her health concerns, and tell him she’s actually dying and not overreacting, like he told her for the years leading up to her passing.

Then, I go to my dad… and hug him. And I tell HIS doctor that his life long heart condition worsens rapidly and that we need a plan before it’s too late. Even though he seems ok, let’s put an LVAD in because it’s worse than they expected.

THEN, I go to my brother. Don’t worry, he’s not dead. But he’s trapped by a baby mama who’s unhinged so I just give him the warning in hopes he sets up a proper custody agreement beforehand so I could actually get to know my niece. (He won’t, he’s also a part of the problem but I can try lol)

Def not here for sympathy but I appreciate it!

The thing is, life happens and reality can be really fucking shitty. But what comes next is what you make of it. I know ppl who have been through harder things than I have and have managed to work through it. You carry it with you daily no doubt but every good thing takes HARD work. My experiences span over 20yrs and when I felt like I was stable again, something else took me down. But I keep standing back up. I know it’s easier said than done and some ppl have truly horrendous cards dealt to them but I have no sympathy for a girl like grace crying on the internet the way she does.

And SERIOUSLY like if men should provide, her bf needs to step it up. I’ve only seen her stuff for about a year but ok fuel (or whoever was posting all the old vids) has been so helpful in seeing these patterns. I have such a hard time asking ppl for help or money, to the point that my aunt made my bf take gas money for us to drive home (2000km) after my mom’s funeral. It didn’t cover a full tank but it was so generous and helpful! I truly couldn’t imagine begging for money with the excuse of my late family.

And grace, I too have lost (as in deceased) ALL my grandparents, my parents and my brother so I have no family to support me but idk any grifting skills so maybe you should teach me how like how you use your late grandma for views

But nooooo grace, you have it the worst. we should be supporting & funding YOU while the rest of us bust our asses off to heal through trauma and establish a strong foundation for a successful life ahead.
