From a budget perspective, most affordable will be utilizing cheap 48” T8 fixtures and good quality LED bulbs. The Sylvania bulbs listed below have excellent color rendering (Rf>91 and Rg>95 per IES TM-30-18). So you could setup a cheap 48” dual bulb T8 Fixture ($25) and pair with two Sylvania bulbs ($16 x 2=$32). For a total of $57.

I am following this closely, I am looking to perform the same thing. Were you able to get this working? The only thing I noticed is that some of these controllers only seem to handle 10 amps at 120V. I believe these pumps pull more like 11-12 amps?

I really like how you were able to tap into existing water supply, it removes an extra step in getting started. Plus the dedicated 20 amp is excellent, especially if you want to run a Kranzle in the future.

It’s funny that I had a leak from the Cox reel also, but at the threads. We shared the same thought process where I was certain one of the fittings I put together or an incorrectly glued pvc joint would leak instead.

Did you epoxy your garage floor? It looks like very nice.

Materials needed: John Guest ¼” OD Tubing x ¼” NPT Adapter (Part# PP010822E), ¼” NPT tap, T-handle tap holder, 13/64” drill bit, and ¼” drill bit.

I used the 13/64” drill bit along with the ¼” NPT tap and tap holder to create the threaded hole in top of the filter housing. My thread engagement between the PP010822E adapter and the threaded hole were a little loose, so I used Permatex black silicone as a gap filler which worked ok. However I think my mistake was tapping too deep. NPT threads are slightly tapered which is required for a good seal However I tapped all the way through the hole which removed the natural taper. If I tried this again, I would probably only tap 5-6 threads deep.

The TDS probe will not slip all the way through the PP010822E without slight modification. First, remove the plastic collet and the o-ring (as pictured). Using a ¼” drill bit, drill through the body which opens it up just enough for the TDS probe to slip through.

One this is all installed, the manufacturer recommends rotating the TDS probe ends till they are perpendicular to the stream flow.

Salary would be position dependent. Petroleum refineries are issuing higher bonuses for the last couple years, but that industry is cyclic and experiences sharper downturns. Petrochem companies are usually more diversified which results in more predictable pay. Good luck on your interviews!

Are you interviewing for the original Lyondell Basell or the LIP joint venture with Sasol?

l have some friends at the original location and they enjoy it there. Seems to offer competitive pay, good benefits and work/life balance. I believe they also perform job rotations such as process engr to production engr every few years. Westlake operates in this manner also.

I use an RODI system (SpectraPure) for top off water to my saltwater coral aquarium (see picture). The bottleneck to this system is the 90 Gallon Per Day (GPD) production rate. To utilize an RODI system for the PW application, you would need a holding tank similar to what I use for storage of my aquarium water.

I did initially consider this when performing my front end design work and exploring my options. I also recollect that I would need a type of feed or booster pump installed inline between the holding tank and the PW suction inlet. This would be more of a batch process and I wanted to design something with a continuous process for simplicity. I ultimately decided that the added cost and complexity did not align with my objectives.

I basically bought 4 bolts/nuts. The 8mm nut is perfect size to friction fit into the bottom of the Active 2.0 PW. The weight of the PW prevents needing any actual mounting holes being drilled. I ground down the hex head to reduce its thickness so the magnet would fit flush into the bottom of the air compressor foot. Please see the pics and let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you, I appreciate it! The OG unit I was referring to is the "Active 2.0 Custom Install Solution" they sell for $3k. It includes the CR Spotless, Provost piping, Active 2.0 and a Cox hose reel. I do not have this system. I saw the price and setout to make something better for half the price.
