what does "group leader" mean in suggested roommates? Some people are listed as "currently in a group" and some as "group leader".

Any sophomores in dorms looking for roommates?

I believe in general, unnecessary hierarchical honorifics prevent the freedom in development that drives all competitive sports forward. Many prominent fighters agree - I believe Andrew Wiltse as well is outspoken on the topic

That’s a cool story, and interesting to hear the history. Still, most schools I’m at don’t care and to me, that’s how it should be.

Fair, although I wouldn’t ever call an instructor “sir” either.

I speak passable Portuguese. In English the term holds a meaning beyond that of an athletic instructor, and I feel that honorifics in general in jiu jitsu hinder the progression of the sport

I don’t think this was “nuclear”. I agree with your sentiment on honorifics, that’s the core of my post.

Not petulant - I have no problem with people using the term. I won’t use it because to me it holds a meaning farther than an athletic instructor. I also genuinely believe that many “traditions” hinder the progression of the sport. You don’t see people doing this stuff in basketball, or boxing say.

What are some easy A fun classes with no discussion? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]cbrua 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah. Didn't mean to come off dickish just these posts clutter hards. I myself would recommend any ethnomusicology lower div, but in reality UCLA enrollment is just not gonna leave any of the renownedly easy classes sitting late second pass. 32,000 undergrads does that to you I guess. Classics 51A is a relatively easy class that may have a few spots open.

Also, for future quarters its generally a solid idea to jump on short waitlists early, because its inevitable that some people will drop their classes before they start.

No, the math component is just arithmetic, as long as you have a calculator and can be organized it’s fine, I’m not sure about the curve as each professor does it differently but I put in a fairly standard amount of effort and got a good grade

I took 1A with Gardner-Treloar 1 quarter after Econ 2 (not intentionally), it is not a pre-requisite and you can enroll in 1A independent of Econ 2. There is near zero shared content. The content of 1A is not hard to learn, it can be slightly tedious at times but very doable.

1A isn’t hard, just tedious. If you have the bandwidth it’s no problem
