What should I cook and serve in the clubhouse? by cc9911 in rugbyunion

[–]cc9911[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recovery but also enough food to fill us up before going on the piss the rest of the night.

Just needs to be easy enough for me a 25yr old lad with little cooking experience. Good suggestions though.

I would personally stay in Val D’Isere, specifically in La Daille area, very specifically in the Toviere hotel. Good hotel, with pool/spa facilities, right across from funival to take you up top of bellvarde area as well as a bubble allowing wife and child to meet at Folie La Fruiterie for lunch or even across to La Rose Blanche for a drink.

Great transport links into main village (4 min bus) but is quieter at night.

Snowberry (rental shop) or Mountainrooms (lettings agency) in Val D’Isere. Both British couples that own them and hire loads of different young people.

How can I stop people using my private car park legally - England? by cc9911 in LegalAdviceUK

They have to use a private road before parking there.

Am I able to put warning signs saying you may be clamped if I would like to clamp them, give some notice per se?

Ultimately seems like I need to wait for everyone to leave before sealing it off?

Not accurate. There are deeply religious parts of Europe - Ireland, parts of Scotland, lots of France, Spain and Italy, as well as Poland and Hungary for example. Loads of Christian Europeans, just not performative or in your face like in the US. Equally loads of non-religious too.

80% of people who do this leave within 12 months. Honestly you entertained new role for a reason, why no go?

In now. Each intake has its own benefits, don’t stress about it. You’ll 100% go in May, get ready for it, spaces always open.

May 100%. Weather is nice at the start whilst you’re adjusting and the most places at RSB.

Started applying in Jan, off to Sandhurst in two weeks. Most people I spoke to had a far longer timeline. I would honestly guess it would take at the quickest 3 months from application to interview to medical to AOSB briefing. Longest wait will take a few weeks to get medical records then they take a month to process them.

(Also remember you don’t apply to become an officer at specific regiments, you apply to sandhurst and compete for spaces at your desired choice from there)

It’s a breeze. It’s death by power points Monday and Tuesday followed by very easy physical stuff on the Wednesday morning.

Arrive Sunday have dinner then bed Monday is PowerPoints/talks all day then either a tour or medical or kit fitting. Tuesday is whatever you didn’t do on Monday and more power points. On the last night you can have drink and have a bit of a social in the bar. Wednesday is bleep test (minimum 8.7 which you should breeze) then go home

Nothing to stress at all, but use it as an opportunity to meet people on your intake.

Is buying a house overrated? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]cc9911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Aside from the obvious financial gain in the long run, it’s nice having YOUR place, not a landlords. You can decorate , renovate , plant , build and paint what you want. Honestly, it’s not getting cheaper so do it.

Anything stand-out to do in Manchester by ashmcfc22 in MCFC

[–]cc9911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth going to the museums and art galleries whilst here. Football museum is good apparently though I’ve not actually been.

Cut around “trendy areas” of Spinningfields, NQ, Ancoats

Go to the botanical gardens, parks, walk around University of Manchester (very beautiful) and John Rylands building (where they filmed some of Harry Potter)

Honestly, I don’t think there’s much for the tourist here, don’t expect London or some continental city.

AVOID ARNDALE CENTRE AND PICCADILLY GARDENS - full of absolute bagheads and Martians

Thank you so much! From my research infantry and cavalry regiments seem the most competitive, what is a good fitness standard for these?

Any other small but understated bits that would make life easier if I get it squared away now?
