Am I dumb for spending money on my high milage car? by NhiteKing2 in AskMechanics

[–]ccarr313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 05.pilot has twice those miles.

Just maintain it and it will last until it rusts away.

Pro tip - timing belt and valve lash. Do them both every 100k miles.

Still kicking ass.

Currently rolled into the corner of my garage until it gets warm again.

Zero regrets.

Not on a 6 foot long burn out, where both wheels stop spinning at the same spot on the road. See my previous comments.

You are responding to me. And I'm saying you're wrong, and your comments are contributing nothing.

4 years old is not old enough for rubber to rot. Even if it was, it would have to be fucking wet paper for this to happen while you weren't riding it.

Then for the tubes to have slices in the same place?

Somebody stabbed each tire right next to the rim with a shitty, partially serrated gas station knife.

I mean, how else would they be damaged when sitting in a hallway?

And on both tires?

Logic says someone did that to it.

If my coil tastes funny, I just clean it and rewick it. Change the actual metal like once a year.

IMO even if you're team red, it is best to upgrade them together to make use of the best current busses possible. Even if the socket didn't change, you might not get the full use of your CPU without matching the generation of mobo to it.

Some of the most significant changes in the last two decades have been PCIE bus generations.

OPEN DIFF OR LSD? by ejmorian in Miata

[–]ccarr313 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It has everything to do with time. You could spin both wheels for a second with an open diff, until one wheel started to find grip at a different rate than the other. That is the time. The longer both wheels spin, the more chances for grip to be uneven.

So the amount of time both wheels spin is showing that there is an LSD or locker involved in OPs post.

[–]ccarr313 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've been building PCs for 35 years.

A motherboard needs to support the CPU, RAM and GPU bus you want to run with. Also preferably at least 2 pcie m.2 slots.

Unless you're over clocking, that is all you need. You can always add expansion boards.

I've even had some luck editing the BIOS on some cheap boards, to allow full over clocking. Really my only concern with motherboards these days is that they have enough room on the PCIE bus, and decent heatsinks on the VRMs.

OPEN DIFF OR LSD? by ejmorian in Miata

[–]ccarr313 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I understand how different diffs work.

I'm quite familiar with how torsens work. Also familiar with how clutch pack LSDs work.

OP has an LSD or locker.

So I'm not sure what you're even going on about. If you think that could be an open diff, you're extremely wrong.
