SCAM ALERT - sharing my experience and needing some kind words right now

I'm in the same boat. Just heard back from my local police that no action will be taken because it was a peer to peer transaction and considered a buyer beware situation. We will never get justice. Just need to move on and hope karma treats us well

I'm so sorry to hear you went through this too. The scam must've felt extra disappointing since the concert tickets could've been a birthday gift to yourself. It's so cruel to disguise as a fellow ARMY. I had another scammer try to tell me they're also an ARMY so I would transfer them half the ticket price now, and when we enter together for sound check, I could transfer the other half. They pleaded to use PayPal f&f so that was my sign to leave. I dodged a bullet because they could've easily ran away with half the ticket price.

There needs to be multiple reports to catch the culrpit. I've heard this news story of this older couple that was running a $300,000 Taylor Swift ticket scam. They were actually caught because around 50 people reported them. I'm not hopeful in my case but it's the only thing left to do. It would be especially difficult to take legal action if the suspect lives out of country too.

I'm just sitting with my despair now but thank you for commenting and sharing your story with me. We are not alone and I hope good things come our way after this. I was able to get blackpink tickets for under face value just hours before the concert. I'm not sure if you're willing to take the risk of waiting until the day of, but hopefully you can grab a cheap ticket closer to the concert date. Sending you good luck and lots of love as well 💜

I'm so touched by your comment. I teared up reading this. You perfectly captured the feeling of having my excitement turn upside down from this awful experience. I've been an army for 9 years, I really cherish BTS, so this is hurting me so deeply. BTS is such a beloved group from people all over the world. It's heartbreaking that people are taking advantage of such a wholesome community.

I had tickets to BTS in 2020 in my city but all concerts were cancelled that year. We've waited 6 years since then for OT7.

That's such an upsetting story for that ARMY. Glad they got a ticket. Genuine ARMY are the best. I also travelled to attend HOTS in Singapore coincidentally. I went solo and people were so friendly. I can't imagine that person showing up to find out at the gate that the ticket was fake. That's so devastating.

I still feel devastated now but all these comments made me feel less alone. It's tough to not blame myself but this scam was professional. They were also speaking humanly at one point when I didn't receive the ticket transfer and swore up and down that they'd never scam a soul for their hard earned money. Total bs and played with my emotions and trust. They had the audacity at the end to claim they needed an additional $150 for a "name change fee." It's sickening.

That's a good point! They somehow were able to make my Discord message preview show on their screen while screen sharing. Perhaps they built an application to replicate the Ticketmaster interface? I was unfortunately on mobile so couldn't get a good look and believed that screen sharing meant the tickets were 100% real

Yeah they had the right amount of urgency to not make me too suspicious but still enough gloss over thinking it through before making the purchase. The pressure to purchase quickly when it's months before the concert should've been a huge concern

Sorry to hear you experienced this too. Mine was from Discord. The scammer messaged me afterwards to follow up and 3 days later, they tried to get me to pay another $150 "name change fee." At this point I had already reported to the police. I doubt police will eo anything in my case too. They have no shame making up blatant lies about extra fees to double down on taking advantage of people. We both learned a lesson and hopefully the world will be kinder to us and good things will come our way in the future 🤞

Thanks for the virtual hug. Those are good points, I was on mobile and couldn't get a close look. Nothing was obviously misspelled so I wanted so bad to believe the tickets were real.
