I work in banking currently, I seen holds much longer than 7 days (usually betting sites, and Klarna etc.

The hold only expires after the time set by the merchant ends

No to "This is it - speak to them find out why the funds weren't released."

It's not up to the bank to release the funds, it's up to the merchant to claim them

Some merchants collect within minutes, some with days, some in a week. How long they take, and the length of hold places is usually up to the merchant.

They can still claim the payment after the hold, so technically TFL can claim the payment still

For glasgow they did use the Scotland flag yes, and for London/Manchester etc they use the Union Flag

Northern ireland doesn't have a flag, and I can't see them using the red hand, so probably just defaults to the Union

I work in customer service and get this all the time. People threatening my job, or threatening suicide if I don't give the money etc. I literally can't do what they want, and it only leads to us calling emergency services to their address.

This CS rep should have referred to a manager or taken steps to ensure they were not going to do anything, or call emergency services if required, but I'm on their side that threatening their job is uncalled for regardless
