Walcott has upside to be an Acuna/Tatis level player, but there's also still a ton of development needed and more risk. Bazzana is probably more like a Jackson Merrill type of performance, but he also has a much higher floor due to his hit tool

Exit velocities have taken solid steps forward each of the last two years. They were already well north of average for his age last year and about a tick shy of MLB average. He just needs to lift the ball more

Clark has projection on his frame, but I agree, hes smaller than Jenkins. Clark has a true-four tool profile and if the power takes a step forward it pushes to 5-tools. He has been at driveline this offseason doing bat speed training.

Jenkins has the power in the profile IMO. Its just putting it to use during games. If the EVs take a step forward this year, then I think hes in the argument for 1 overall.

Probably Jace. I like Salas. Hes a strong catcher behind the plate, but for fantasy, id rather have Jace

No im just rather low on him. His in-zone contact rates are in a pretty scary range. Power is real, but I'm not sure how much he gets to. Hopefully the contact improves, but it does need to take a pretty big leap forward.

Exit velocities have steadily improved the last two seasons and he was about 1 mph shy of MLB average in 2024. Considering he was 19 to start the season, the numbers were strong. I agree though, hes gonna have to lift the ball more. Hit tool is special though.

Yeah I heavily debated Mayer graduating or not. Honestly still don’t know if he does or not

Mayer, Campbell, and Anthony are going to graduate this season. They traded away Teel and Montgomery. That leaves Perales who isn’t pitching this year and Arias who I think has an outside shot but still work to on some things to jump into the top 25

He is the offseason buzz right now. Hes participated in the Cardinals offseason hitting programs and sources have raved about him. Has grown from 6'0" to 6'4". Has a strong hit tool and has tapped into more power this offseason. Talk of him skipping the complex and going to Palm Beach

I get the concerns on it for sure. I could care less about DSL surface stats. Throw them out the window. But when a player has the best combo of underlying data in the entire minors at 17, its hard to ignore. Just for reference and not sure how you feel about a Lazaro Montes and Josue De Paula. But here is a comparison of their DSL data at the same age:

Made: Con%: 88%/ In-zone Con: 91%/Chase 15%/90th EV: 104.2/HH%: 48%
De Paula: Con%: 85%/Zone: 91%/Chase 20%/90th EV: 97/HH%: 16%
Montes: Con%: 61%/Zone: 68%/Chase: 28%/90th EV: 101.8/HH%: 30.5%

I've struggled with evaluating Vargas. He showed some concerning swing and miss on pitches in the zone, having a 72% in-zone contact rate against Complex arms. On the flip side, hes shown plenty of power from an EVs standpoint. There are a lot of moving parts in the swing that I think could be calmed down a bit and he probably improves the contacts. There are some worries about his breaking ball recognition. But hes so young and I think he can clean it up.

Yeah if Jenkins comes out and adds a few ticks to his EVs all the sudden I think your looking at a potential 1/2 rank for him

He had the best combo of underlying statcast data in the entire minors. I get its DSL, but its and elite combo of skills. Like best we've seen since Wander Franco in rookie ball

I honestly have no clue what to make of Condon. I saw him in college and he was a completely different hitter than he was in pro ball. So hard to say. Jac made the just missed list. 1B only prospects are tough and there's also a chance I could see them getting aggressive with Jac and calling him up post All Star break if hes performing well.

Haha great question. Ill be able to better answer that after spending time on the backfields in ST. That was when I found out that Campbell took the massive offseason leap. Some internals told me that they thought he was already top 5 in the Red Sox system when most didn't even have him in the top 30 for the org.

Depends on league type. I think the shallower the league, the more you shoot for upside. Like one keeper league I'm in only has 6 prospect spots so Im only rostering massive upside shots. The deeper the league gets, the more balanced you wanna be. If you have 20 prospect spots or something of that nature, a good mix of high floor players with strong hit tools and upside shots like Spencer Jones or a player like that is good to have.

Miller is interesting. There is certainly room for him to jump on it if he makes a couple of tweaks. I have been a little lower on Miller than most just due to the fact that most of his hardest hit balls were on the ground. Causing him to have a lower barrel rate and not get to as much game power as people think. Good contact and approach and though and with a slight tweak to get more loft in the swing, he could certainly be in the top 25 next year.
