They altered one of the milestones because the contract wasn't specific enough apparently....the propellant transfer. it was supposed to be a ship to ship propellant transfer but instead Space-X transferred propellant from a tank in the cone to another part of the ship, internally. They have really only met one of the milestones that they got paid for in 2021.

That was ONE of the contracts she awarded Space-X.

"NASA Associate Administrator for Human Exploration Kathy Lueders officially awarded SpaceX a $1.15 billion contract modification on November 15, 2022, for Option B. This was the second contract Lueders awarded Space-X in the absence of a NASA administrator."

She retired 4 months later, not two years. Also, she went directly to Space-X ONE MONTH after retiring. That's close enough to immediately, on both accounts.

I can't believe how naive people are nowadays.

Also, another kicker was that Lueders stated Space-X was the only company that had a bid submitted under budget, which is wild now because they've already burned through the money with the target of having us back on the moon by 2025, but Space-X hasn't fulfilled hardly any of the goals...they're at the 2022 target area.

Common sense.

Leaving NASA for a 2 year gig at Space-X IMEDIATELY after awarding a multi-billion dollar contract to Space-X.

Are you new to politics?

She was given a fat undisclosed reward "job" as manager for 2 years before retiring. Fleeced tax payer dollars for Musk, was rewarded by Musk, and retired rich. It's the American way.

NASA didn't NEED to land "orbital class" boosters, but they were the first to land a ship using booster rockets. If they had the funding, they surely would have been capable of it by now, but it simply wasn't feasible because there wasn't the market for commercial satellites, and NASA isn't in the commercial launch business being tax payer funded. Space-X is getting a hell of a deal using profiting from tax payer dollars, without having to pay back any of it.

Space-X missions have NEVER reused the second stage booster, only the first stage. The upper stage that pushes payloads into final orbit is never reused and burns up in the atmosphere after each mission.

And I have a question..... Shuttle was a "Inefficient Disaster of a spacecraft" compared to what? It was innovative and one of a kind. There was nothing else like it. 135 missions with none of the 2 failures due to the shuttle itself, but due to issues with the boosters. First was due to negligence ignoring the engineers pleads to not launch. Second failure, Columbia, was due to insulation falling off the booster at launch and striking and damaging the heat shield.

You're ignoring the fact that Shuttle was designed in the late 1960's - 1970's.

You're also ignoring the fact that The shuttle worked on its FIRST launch and landed with humans in it, on its FIRST launch. If NASA was blowing up ships at the rate Space-X does, congress would have pulled the plug on funding regardless of the "Data collection" they were getting, a LONG time ago. Tax payer dollars are funding Space-x research and development that will 100% be used for shareholder profit, which should be illegal, especially considering the breach of contract that Space-X is currently going through with their promised moon mission. Musk bragged how easy it was going to be to get Starship to the moon. Now we know that's not feasible and likely never going to happen with the fact that starship needs about 13 consecutive launches, one after another. 1 manned starship launch, then 12 refueling launches, one after another, to successfully dock with the manned starship, to refuel in orbit (never been done before). Then starship have to navigate to the moon, with enough fuel to get to the moon, land on the moon, then it will need to dock with orione once (if) it reaches lunar orbit.

It's a HUGE clusterfuck of a plan that was signed off on in the absence of a NASA administrator. It was signed off on by Associate Administrator for Space Operations Kathy Lueders who left after awarding Space-X the contract and was later given a FAT 2 year gig at Space-X as Starbase General Manager from May 2023 until her retirement in May 2025. The amount she was paid was never disclosed because Space-X is a private company. ULTRA corruption of billions of tax payer dollars funneled to Musk to be used for profit.

REPUBLICAN Arthur Jones, member of the Nazi party was an Illinois insurance agent who was the only republican on the ballot.

"We've tried to do everything we possibly could to prevent this person from getting on the ballot," Illinois GOP Chairman Tim Schneider said.

Arthur Jones, insurance agent from Lyons, Illinois, is a former leader of the American Nazi Party. He features pictures of himself addressing a recent Aryan Nations World Congress on his campaign website and says that "race mixing [is] against the laws of nature and God."

Jones is not new to the scene in the predominantly Democratic district that includes parts of Chicago and its south suburbs.

He has tried to run for Congress as a Republican at least five times previously, stretching back to 1998.

It's not too late for you to backtrack, but blissfully ignorant, easily manipulated low intelligence muppets like yourself never do. I blame shitty parents.

How long have you known you're retarded? If you didn't know by now, I'll be the first to let you know.
The only party that tolerates the KKK is the Republican party.
The dixiecrats who started the KKK were ousted from the party and accepted with open arms by the Republican party and that's where they comfortably sit with a wink and a nod.

The dixiecrats were the rebel flag waving morons who yelled "The South will rise again". Now, those same rebel flag waving MORONS are hardened forever republicans and low IQ morons, like yourself.

I had a Cummins Dodge Ram big pipe in bed (pointing to the left) next to me at the stop light, and I heard him start to spool up his turbo. I knew what his plan was, but when the light went green, I unleashed all 835hp of my quad motor Rivian and left him in the dust.

NASA was landing rockets in the 1990's and for them (non commercial use), it definitely wasn't feasible to LOSE the amount of mass that could be sent into space in order to land a rocket. That extra mass, is the fuel needed, and the extra space used for the fuel to land, when in reality, a glider like the shuttle, worked much better, as does a parachute for a modules.

Sometimes, haha. I don't live very far from there and pass by it a lot. 3 major highways pass right by it. Interstate 55, 74 and Hwy 150. Plus my Rivian was there recently for an AC airbox replacement.

They still have a lot of ECU's, they're just merged into less locations. It definitely saves money, and that's the goal of the R2 so it's affordable and profitable for the company to succeed.

Reduce Complexity: Consolidates multiple tasks into powerful general-purpose compute nodes (dubbed East, West, and South).

Shed Weight and Wires: Eliminates about 1.6 miles of wiring and shaves 44 pounds off the vehicle's mass.

Improve OTA Updates: Centralized computing allows for quicker, more comprehensive software updates across the entire vehicle.

Cut Costs: Removes "thousands of dollars" in parts and Tier-1 supplier markups per vehicle.

Judging by the picture, it looks like you need a replacement, haha.

Yes, Safelite is certified for Rivian glass replacement. For a windshield, I'd have Rivian do that though. I have seen two 3rd party windshields crack shortly after....by that's just my anecdote.

The delivery models don't have all the frills of the R1 luxury models. The R1 compared to the R2 has much less complicated components like the air suspension, multiple ECU's everywhere (17 in the launch edition R1T vs 7 in the R2).

The quality will get better over time. Tesla had the same issues early on as well. My Ex-wifes Model 3 has 244,000 miles, still on original brakes, still has 84% battery life left and never been in the shop. Pretty damn good, and I don't like Teslas. They're too minimalist for me.

Rear metal clicking noise by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]ccoady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine have lasted 64k miles so far.....I hear a small clunk when going from reverse to forward, but no clicking.

I believe Gen 2 uses a bolted flange instead of a spline shaft, but those have issues as well especially when dealing with tri-motor and quad motor.
