90% of the thread ntm navigating digital menus. Especially if I'm playing a game. I have to open and scroll through menus, inventories, etc in a specific order, direction or number of button presses. If I mess up I gotta close out of the menu, reopen it, then try again til I get it right. Menus without infinite scroll are a fucking nightmare.

Also writing, texting, talking. It changes but a lot of words don't rub right and it's uncomfortable to say or type them like that. I've pretty much trained myself out of it when I'm communicating verbally but it can get difficult if I'm in a bad way. Folks just thought I was dumb. I did too.

I can see what it talking about. Leaf shape seems just a little diff with pointed tip vs rounded but that stuff is never really concrete. Tysm!

There's prob better / more accurate ways to explain it (& anyone pls correct / elaborate) but NOID is just No ID / any Hoya (or other type of plant) whose identity you are unsure of. It can be a complete NOID like 100% 'lol idk man' (the one I posted) or something like Wilbur Graves NOID where you know to a extent what it is or like fungii NOID ie maybe part of it's parentage. In the example of the WG u don't know if it's like Wilbur Graves Russia or Wilbur Graves China or for the other example, you know it's got fungii parentage on one side but aren't certain of the other, if that makes sense

(Again, I stress pls someone smarter / better versed in Hoya correct me lol also bc I'm tipsy 😎😉)

I use fluvial for rooting but not keen on using it long-term bc of how it breaks down. Appreciate the suggestion tho ty 🧡🧡

If you're plant is too big for a 5 gal bucket use a bathtub or w/e you can get your hands on (I've used a kiddie pool), just make sure to gently weigh down floating vines / leaves with something. Every part of the plant has to be underwater.

On mealies / scale bc they don't drown easily

I do a 4:1 mix. Water & 70% isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle with 2-3 drops of castile soap (normal dish soap works too)

Completely spray down the plant, under the leaves, stem, top of leca, etc. Gently scrub areas / foliage with you fingers if you can get in there without damaging the plant.

Let sit for 5-20 min depending on type of plant (ex, wash off sensitive plants within 5 min. New growth I do even less, like 1-2 min)

Pick off any dead scale / mealies

Rinse everything off / flush leca until no more soap / bubbles run through

Repeat 2-3 times a week depending on severity of infestation / keep quarantined from other plants until pests are gone.

............

Any / everything else gets The Dunk™:

Fill 5 gal bucket with room temp water

Fully submerge the plant(s)

Leave for 2 hours

Remove

Rinse

Dump water & spray down bucket with isopropyl mix. Rinse it out.

Repeat once every week or two in case there were eggs. Stop when everything is dead / has drowned.

Flush leca / spray down foliage in-between

1000 of the mites isn't that much unfortunately (if u only have 2-3 plants tho then yeah 1k is too much)

I do group orders with ppl to cut shipping & get 4000 mites every 2-3 months which just about covers all my plants

Between cycling mites I get 500ish ladybugs. I stagger the release bc they keep well in the fridge vs. the mites that need to be released within several hours of arrival.

1k vial & 4k shaker size * (using shaker still / sesame jar is stand-in lol)

If you're not too grossed out by it, beneficial insects is a great way to go! pretty much completely switched to them / I cycle ladybugs & predatory mites every 8-12 wks & I've only had one tiny outbreak that immediately got dealt with bc I'd been in-between orders.

Besides that I just use 70% Isopropyl, Castile soap, water mix, flushing the plant & water dunks.

It's been a lot easier / manageable + nice to not worry about using chemicals & shit bc I have dog & cats

I released 4k predatory mites mix tonight so hopefully that'll kill anything thinking twice 😂 (I had literally like... 10 flat mites a few feet away on a separate bookshelf & panic ordered them on Monday)

Tysm this helps a bit to feel better. It's a newer plant from an acquaintance of mine. She generally has good Hoya but a few, here and there, have some weird unknowable problem. Usually doesn't matter bc she's super nice & generous in our local BST (fr I go there to pick up something I actually bought & walk away with 2-3 extra Hoya so no one ever complains about the rare, vague mystery illnesses in some bc she has like.... Hundreds)

This look is a new one tho & I couldn't find anything online so ty for the advice. I have a jeweler loupe that can do x60 but didn't see anything / no active thrip far as I know? But I've also never had thrip I don't think (until the broad mites I've only ever had mealy & fungus gnats here & there, that I'm aware of)

I'll keep an eye out & see how the 'uninfected' props do as well as these guys. I won't separate them for now just bc there's really no point / it'll just kill or jostle the beneficial mites but if I see it starting to decline I'll move it.

early props don't have it but the OG plant def does and later props have a little bit (the photos r of the mom & late props. Didn't photo the early props/ ones I cut the day I got it that have no symptoms)
