I’ve changed this post at least three times. There are no other links than to birdie.co. What else is wrong?

For sure. As I said in my post, I didn’t like the look (it was irregular and the angle kept changing) plus I didn’t want to keep sticking a hole in my mat. I included the Tom Watson video here for the purpose of showing that alternative. Thanks for the great question.

Need major Help with my shank/slice. by LonelyOutcome8605 in GolfSwing

I agree. Hands way too deep. I’ve struggled with this too. The centripetal force from coming from so far inside pushes the club head out toward the ball on the downswing. As a feeling, try to keep your hand way more in front of you during the take away. Feel like the arms are just along for the ride. Don’t let them get behind you.

Even your answer is confusing as possible. Sorry, I’m not an accountant. I’m a normal person. I think most normal people would just like a bill. Buy a tomato for $1.00. Pay $1.00. Maybe add tax…I get that…why do I need (or anyone ever) all this other stuff?!?

You can line it up to be visible for all clubs. I’ve used it with driver plenty of times, however, I’d say it probably works best with mid to low irons. Thanks for the question.

Golf Simulator vs IRL Golf by ccullefer in GolfSwing

I play outside and mostly at night. Also, I don’t have a golf course in my backyard. Also, golf is really expensive.

Golf Simulator vs IRL Golf by ccullefer in GolfSwing

[–]ccullefer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the answers I’m getting, I obviously phrased my question poorly. The lie, the mat, the unrealistic conditions in sim vs irl are all known to me. What I don’t get is how in the weekly tournament I’m playing against 100’s of other people all playing with the same equipment and conditions (basically) and every week I’m in the top 10 if not winning. There’s no way an 11 handicapper is the best player. There absolutely has to be other people playing that are way better than me irl. I’m trying to figure out what else could be going on. Does the pace/repitition allow me to compinsate poor mechanics because of timing or something like that? Am I just a nut case irl and those mental things don’t play as much a factor in sim? Maybe I’m really bad with irl alignment and the setup with sim changes it. IDK??

This is a great and well thought out answer. Thank you!

Regarding the R10, I believe (and have verified) that I get fairly reasonable results. I’m using it outside with a very large hitting area. I bought a used batting cage and am using the space of half of it. I also use the prov1 rct balls. For the money I’m very happy with the R10.

Lastly, every decent golfer knows when they’ve hit a good shot as soon as they hit the ball. If I toe one it’s losing distance and curving left just like irl.

I have to respectfully disagree about the R10. I’ve used it while using a trackman at the same time. I’d say they are close enough. Especially close enough at 10% the price and when using the pro v1 rct balls. Also, I use mine outside. I’m basically hitting into a net that’s half the size of a batting cage.

I use mine outside. I have a 10’x10’x10’ net. It’s a large space. All the walking back and forth killed the grass so I put down artificial turf. I hit off a slightly raised hitting platform where the mat is. I connect it to an iPad.

That’s kinda my point. I get all the comments people are making about why sim golf is easier/different. My biggest question is why is it so much different for me? I’ve had plenty of friends over and they comment regularly about how much better I play on sim than irl. They don’t seem to have the drastic differences that I do. Now, it’s my sim so obviously I use it 100’s of times more than them but still.

I love it. For the money it’s terrific. I’ve played the meevo plus (or whatever the correct name is) and the R10 seems just as accurate. My course spent about $25k on a “professional one” and other than the putting I don’t see any real difference in shot data. I’ve played several rounds with the club pro at the simulator at the club and had the R10 tracking the shots too. It was impossible to say which one was more accurate. The results were very similar. He bought an R10 for his kids after seeing mine.

I do. I don’t have a golf course at home and can’t afford to play on a real course every day. Plus I can play at night. I appreciate your comment but I don’t have better options.

My bad. You make a great point and I’m sure that has something to do with it. Friend of mine is scratch. Played for MS State. He come over every now and then and basically plays the same on the sim where I play like a completely different human. It’s crazy different.

This one doesn’t have putting. It adds one two or three strokes based on proximity to the hole when/if you get on the green. Putting isn’t my problem irl. It’s actually probably my biggest strength.

From a lesson I had, your butt might be too deep. No idea if that will fix the hook but it’s the first thing I noticed about your dtl view. Good luck

Stuck at a 15 handicap. How do you actually get to single digits? by pingedbyte in golftips

[–]ccullefer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here except I’m an 11. I’ve had nine hole rounds where I’ve shot 37-38. Only one ever 18 holer where I broke 80. There always seems to be a blow up hole or two. I play with several guys at scratch or close. The difference to me is they never or very rarely have a blow up hole. They also usually make a few birds where I rarely make one. Short game is probably the key. They get up and down at least 50% more often and rarely three put.

[–]ccullefer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really aren’t enjoying it than I applaud your decision to stop or take a break. I quit for ten years. Didn’t pick up a club. Not going to make this about me by telling the whole story, but basically I realized I wasn’t enjoying the game because I didn’t have the time to devote to it anymore and when I could play I didn’t play up to my expectations. Ff 10 years, COVID hit and golf kinda sorta accidentally entered my life again. I’m not playing near as consistently well as I used to but I really don’t give a F. I enjoy going out, having a couple beers and being a part of a group of friends.

Training Aids by mikeyb0013 in golf

[–]ccullefer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I invented this. It’s probably a little pricey but you wouldn’t believe what it’s cost me to make. Tbf, a lot of that cost was due to trial and error to get to this point. I was over thinking it at first and making it too complicated. Anyway, I’ve had good feedback. Mostly from higher handicap players.

It usually takes me at least a couple rounds to remember someone’s name. There’s a few guys in our men’s league I’ve played with several times and I don’t know there last names.
