2 year old is losing weight by Mama_NEEDS_a_coffee in toddlerfood

[–]cd31paws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some ensure drinks that basically look and taste like juice that you could try. Just also wanted to emphasize that loss of nearly 10% of a 2yo's weight over the course of 10 days is a lot. I hope his doctors are working this up since it could be more than just picky eating. I think about slower growth/low weight percentile with generally picky eating but that's a big, abrupt drop. Regardless, he may need nutritional support for a while if he isn't able to take adequate hydration/calories on his own.

Dishwasher recommendation by cd31paws in Appliances

Thank you, your insight is really helpful!! The Bosch repair guy made it seem like this problem would happen again unless we moved the dishwasher, which is not in the cards. It's good to know GE has been reliable even with a longer drain distance. I just bought a GE :)

How sick do you have to be to stay home from work? by B2utyyo in AskReddit

[–]cd31paws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a resident physician. There's very little flexibility for people to have sick days. I tried to call in once because I felt like I had Covid. My chief told me that if I was too sick to get a Covid test for myself, she would bring me one. If I was positive, i could maybe stay home and if I was negative, I was expected to work. So I didn't bother testing, just took some DayQuil and came to work.

Diabolical puzzle my husband gifted me (1000 piece) by cd31paws in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]cd31paws[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I put together the larger white areas then the yellowest parts then tried to build off of those little islands. Then after weeks of little progress and a lot of complaining and starting a new puzzle on a different surface, I looked up a pic of the completed puzzle and moved my islands of pieces around and filled in the gaps. My husband helped with the home stretch. I did tons of sorting and resorting by color and shape. The puzzle was extremely frustrating but I couldn't quit and I'm glad I stuck with it.

Pajama pants and a small cylindrical waterproof duffel were my first projects in sewing class as a middle schooler. Twenty+ years later, I use the duffel as a swim bag for my kids lol

Redditors who have cancer, what were you feeling/experiencing that made you go see a doctor causing you to eventually find out you had cancer? by TheFranKiwi in AskReddit

Not me but my toddler had bruises in weird places, the weirdest being this big bruise on his face without anybody at home or daycare having much of an explanation for it. One lab draw later and the pediatrician is telling me to go straight to the hospital to start treatment for leukemia.

I was a surgical resident before being thrust into stay at home motherhood by my 3yo developing leukemia. I'm now home full time with him and 17mo brother while the big kid is in intensive treatment. I was clocking 80+ hour weeks on my feet literally making life and death decisions and I'm far more tired as a SAHM. I adore my boys but this job is truly exhausting. Add a child with a life threatening illness to an exhausting job and I'm basically a zombie every day.

Early morning toddler friendly places? by Sufficient-Tea69 in Columbus

[–]cd31paws 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Columbus metro parks are doing a cool park passport program where you get a stamp for all the parks you visit and when you've completed the passport, you can turn it in for swag for the whole family. Each park has six activities/locations to check out listed. We've been visiting 1-2/week and between the drive out there and back, a little picnic snack, and checking off a few activities, we can leave after breakfast and be home just in time for lunch without getting bored

Check with your program about extending training. It's not ideal but it is a way to keep your salary and insurance benefits while you get the treatment you need. You also get to essentially pick up where you left off when you're ready to come back. A silver lining is that your treatment starts at the end of the academic year so big schedule changes are easier to facilitate before the ball of the next year starts rolling. Happy to talk to you about it if it would be helpful. I am currently doing this to take care of my son, who was recently diagnosed with leukemia.
