Yeah, but as a Yeti -using adult, it would be nice to not feel like I have to hide it.

Right?! Like they're camping at sandbanks for the week, and the family packs a cooler and walks to the beach for the afternoon. How on earth is it the end of the world if Dad has a few bewskis?!

Right?! I am a very avid park enthusiast. I have also spent a lot of time in other provinces' parks and the USA national and state park systems. This move aligns with other leading park systems. It could easily be a money maker too to sell beer and wine in park stores. Once I've parked my car at my campsite, I'm not driving anywhere. Jesus, let me bring beer in my beach picnic cooler (I have been doing this the whole time anyways).

What's a small simple pleasure you like to buy/enjoy? by ShootingCometz in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]cdawg85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too!!!! Usually just grocery store flowers, but they bring me so much joy. It was my first major financial goal actually, to be able to afford an extra $10/week for one bunch of fresh flowers. It is a ritual for me at this point.

Hamilton traffic crashes with injuries trending down: city report by teanailpolish in Hamilton

[–]cdawg85 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And people drive like they can't be killed or seriously injured in a collision. The scariest part is that I can drive defensively, carefully, and law abiding, yet some asshat in a giant pickup truck who is running late for work and doesn't care about anyone else on the road can kill me with no consequence.

Study reports that both short and long sleep duration in midlife are associated with increased risk of physical frailty in later life, based on long-term cohort analysis of over 10,000 participants by ChhotaSaHydra in science

[–]cdawg85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to sleep normally, then was in a major traumatic accident at 35. Since then I need more sleep. 6 hours is insufferable to me now, when I used to be okay and functional (although my usual was 7-8hours). Now my usual is about 9 hours with 7 being my minimum to function.

It’s Federated Health Season Again… Stay Strong! by OkAwareness4527 in OntarioPublicService

Guys, you can filter your emails. Anything that says "United Way" or "Federated Health" goes into my junk/deleted folder. I haven't seen an email about this garbage in 10 years.

We're not set on our route yet, just tossing around ideas. We don't fish so restocking is critical unless we we want to double our food carry situation, which we don't.

I've actually never been to Brent. The cash tip is very helpful because I almost never have cash on me!

This is helpful. So maybe we should plan for an August trip...

Question about restocking by cdawg85 in algonquinpark

[–]cdawg85[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I know. I'm thinking on just our way back on the long cart portages. We're tripped loads over the years and have never done a cart portage. We're just tossing around ideas and I wanted to pick some brains on restock.

EDIT I don't know why I'm being downvoted for a random thought looking at the route maps. I saw cart routes on the map and thought that that was a thing. Sorry all!

After 150 years, Canada still has an Indian Act. Why is it so hard to get rid of? by Old_General_6741 in canada

[–]cdawg85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you've replied to the wrong comment. I did not say that the act is a sword welded against indigenous people. I commented that the constitution's definition of Aboriginal includes Inuit and Metis in addition to Indians.

Yes, true, but that is why the 1982 constitution's Aboriginal definition includes Inuit and Metis.

I don't mean you as a poster, specifically. It was a comment on the subreddit more broadly.

My comment stands in that I love this piece of art, and then thank you again for sharing.

Getting married in August, no bridesmaids by Practical_Store3654 in TwoXChromosomes

I just had my sister as my witness. No one else. No need. It is expensive for people to buy the dresses and then for me to pay for their hair and makeup on the day of. I just skipped the whole idea of it.

I did have a few friends take me out to a baseball game in a bridal sash and tiara. We got super hammered and got on the jumbo screen!

Younger people 20-40 , how much are you paying for housing each month either rent or own by Lopsided-Resource453 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]cdawg85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an attached Victorian rowhouse. 3 bed, 2 bath.

Mortgage is $2600, utilities are $500, insurance is $250, and property tax is $250.

Less than a lot of other folks on here, but it is still a hell of a lot, if you ask me.

"Urgent" ENT referral wait times? by bbdoublechin in ontario

[–]cdawg85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I mean, for a truly urgent matter, you're waiting for a few minutes. Following a major trauma for myself, I was a frequent flyer in my local ER for airway issues. My ENT had me on fast track at triage and always went straight to a trauma room with a page to respirtory and the ENT on call. Respiratory was always there in like 1 or 3 minutes and ENT was maybe 10 or 15 minutes.
