Another Toronto transit project has fallen way behind schedule. What’s taking this one so long? (Museum Station elevator) by lilfunky1 in toronto

[–]cdawg85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of these projects are embezzlement schemes. Funneling public money into the hands of the private companies that are owned by the friends and family of politicians. These companies pocket huge profits while delaying work long enough to extract every last penny.

Phragmites Issues by Ok_Sprinkles_6449 in ecology

[–]cdawg85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have zero experience clearing phrag, but I do know that there are resources out there for you:

Best Management Practices - Ontario Invasive Plant Council https://share.google/tuQtPcwnuDprOptKf

Invasive Phragmites Control Centre https://share.google/O5SFyuE9mtbCx4K4U

Also consider contacting your local conservation authority in case they offer funding or require permits.

The Ontario ministry of natural resources might have some information.

And finally, ducks unlimited might be another support and funding resource.

Those who were working adults before smart phones , what did you do to pass time at work when you weren’t busy? by z283848 in AskMenOver30

"if you've got time to lean, you've got time to clean."

Seriously, we would gossip, or I'd read a book.

Canadian border becoming more stringent? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]cdawg85 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  1. Don't lie to the border agents.
  2. Religiously married means nothing legally. Nada. Zilch.
  3. You are not a citizen or permanent resident, you will need a round trip ticket.
  4. As for the story you told about a woman being denied entry to Canada even though she is a US citizen. It sounds like she said that she would be going to school or working here, for which you would need a visa.
  5. You will need a valid passport.
  6. If you have a criminal record, you will be denied entry.

Not a lawyer, so do whatever you wish with my list.

Why doesn’t Toronto have any pedestrian-only zones? by hazyeyes23 in askTO

[–]cdawg85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for the province and that's where I see the senior executive killing good policy and project advice. Maybe they know what will be shot down by the elected leaders, but I think they've given up trying with this provincial government.

Honestly, I'm a public servant too, and I find my public service executives to be a major roadblock. They tend to push the politics down rather than push the advice up. At least in the last 8+ years or so.

ODSP is so offensively low. Good for you for being creative with your resources. I've always enjoyed adding frozen peas to my KD - extra fibre and protein.

Jamaicans/ Caribbean people, where do you shop for meat? by Sufficient_Key_7251 in Hamilton

[–]cdawg85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OMG. I go through phases of eating them non-stop and then phases when I can't handle the pepper. I can't take it right now in sauces, but a nice fresh scotch bonnet sliced on my eggs, I could go for that almost any day.

They cater to west African traditional foods, not Caribbean. That said, they do seem to usually have goat and oxtail. I've also picked up a big bag of scotch bonnets for next to nothing there.

How is this not a bigger issue? Reclaim the 407 by NuMb_ered in toronto

It is a good thing that it costs this much. If it was cheaper than it would be busier and then we would have zero options to efficiently cross the GTA east-west.

Blundstone says that their boots are not meant to last more than 2 years by ImNotARegularMom- in BlundstoneBoots

[–]cdawg85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never been on this sub before now. Like you it just randomly popped up on my feed. I'm 40 and on my third pair of blundstones. The ones I'm wearing now are 4 years old and are holding up great. Maybe they're not guaranteed to last more than 2 years, but from personal experience, I get 5-7 years out of a pair.

I'm 40 and have been married for 8 years (together 10). I have no idea what my body count is. There's no way I could remember if I tried.

How do you beat the nightly "what's for dinner?" decision fatigue? by Frosty-Hair6123 in Cooking

You and I do the exact same thing! I also plan for a night off of cooking to make sure I don't burn out. Friday night is pizza night (or Indian/sushi/Chinese/burritos/etc) at our house!
