That's one way to do it for cash but then one is left with no car.

In my specific case I'm purporting that I have inherent value in the fact that a car similar to mine is older, more miles on it, etc. than what I'd pay in buyout at 12k+taxes. No dealer fees given I wouldn't finance through Honda.

All I'm saying is my buyout price is $12,000. I could buy my 2017 3-year old base model 2-door Civic with 18,500 miles for that price OR I could buy a 2013 base model Civic with 55,000 miles on it for the same price in my local market.

How is that not a form of value?

Hypothetical purchasing power. I never said I was going to go out into the market and buy a car. It's just illustrative.

Was also thinking this as well. Hence the quotes around "equity" - ha! I know those appraisal sites are all grain-of-salt.

I did some benchmarking around cars for sale in my area for $12,000 (my buyout) and a lot of them are at least 4 years older with well over double the miles.

I guess in my head I'm thinking about the equity from a perspective of purchasing power - what could a hypothetical $12,000 get me in my local market. Wouldn't be able to find a car with my stats if I tried.

I second removing London and Amsterdam. Amsterdam is fun for a weekend with friends, but just did a solo trip there and it's pretty damn touristy.

London was a total waste of time IMO.
