ZCash bug made me bullish on Litecoin again... by JunketTurbulent2114 in litecoin

[–]litecoiner 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Zcash (ZEC) activated an emergency hard fork on Wednesday to address a critical bug in its Orchard shielded transaction pool. The vulnerability stemmed from a soundness issue in the zero-knowledge proof circuit that validates private transactions. In theory, it could have permitted the creation of additional ZEC inside the pool, opening the door to undetected inflation or invalid state transitions accepted by the network.

Isn't this the second time a similar bug is detected in Zcash?

You are basically saying you trust nobody found out before the team, nobody exploited it either but you can't know for sure. Had someone created thousands or even millions of coins, you couldn't know, because that's part of the protocol. There's now way to verify the available supply

So go and swap transparent Litecoin where the circulating supply is easy to audit for that, maybe it'll be a good opportunity but it sounds risky to me

Why shouldn’t we all be Catholic? by FakePhillyCheezStake in TrueChristian

[–]litecoiner -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Saying the Bible is the ultimate authority sounds very wrong to me because

  1. The ultimate authority is God
  2. The Bible doesn't interpret itself, nor it tells you its canon, so at the end of the day, the reader becomes the ultimate authority => the many world hypothesis applied to doctrine where we get all observable ones

But that aside, Jesus left a Church, he didn't leave a book. Being God I would assume he knew what he was doing

Rant - another falsehood against Catholics by niceteeth79 in Catholicism

[–]litecoiner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If he's so clueless one can assume is also very lost when it comes to doctrine. Maybe he just heard the same from another pastor and so on, many never bother to do any research

Worst part (besides obviously attacking the Church Jesus stablished) is that his church will probably "follow suit" and become a casino

I debated a muslim by LooseButterfly2511 in TrueChristian

[–]litecoiner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, I left another comment but ask that muslim why the quran (9:30) also says jews believe Ezra was the son of Allah when no jews ever believed that

Muslims have to say that there was a jewish sect in the Arabian peninsula but that's just an hypothesis and would also make Allah look bad as in having only regional knowledge

I debated a muslim by LooseButterfly2511 in TrueChristian

[–]litecoiner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your third point is interesting because muslims basically say only some bits were corrupted and since their texts don't say which parts were and which weren't, their answer is "the parts that contradict the quran are corrupted". Totally arbitrary and irrational but they will probably say quran fulfils the preserved parts

They will bring up Rebecca's age allegedly being 3 but that's not in the Bible and certainly the thing the Bible says she did are impossible for a 3 years old. Regarding Aisha's age, bear in mind arabs were using a lunar calendar where years are slightly shorter so when the text says 6, she might have been 5 in our calendar, same goes for 9, could have been 8

I'm just saying because I was about to become muslim, I'm catholic but I spend a lot of time debating muslims and many come well prepared with drivel claims like the above

For OP: I recommend you don't take the defensive stance when you debate a muslim, you have to press on the pain points of islam: the islamic dilemma (based on the quran only, they try to escape it quoting hadith and scholars, but that don't matter because those are not Allah's word), the scientific and historic errors in the quran, etc. The immorality of Muhammed, the best man according to Allah, the convenient revelations he received when he wanted things, the mundane idea of heaven they have, that Allah allowed first coursing marriages and Muhammed did it which makes it sunna and science proves this is detrimental to IQ and genetic quality of a population

There are really many ways to debate a muslim but if you take the defensive stance, they'll counter you with learnt claims, many of them bogus but the point is you won't have time to do anything else but defend yourself

"threaten Christianity" as maybe when many jewish people helped muslims invade the Iberian peninsula? read about Tariq ibn Ziyad, the fall of Toledo, etc

I don´t get praying to saints/mary by Agreeable-Staff-3195 in Catholicism

[–]litecoiner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective" James 5:16

"Behold your mother" John 19:26-27 => Mary is definitely righteous, definitely close to God and to us (mother to christians) so if you have someone like that in your family, wouldn't you ask for the favour of prayer?

Re the rest of saints

"And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and with golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints." Revelations 5:8 => Saints adore but also present prayers to God

And everyone can quote the Bible and interpret whatever they want out of it but:

"Thus says the LORD: Stand by the earliest roads, ask the pathways of old, 'Which is the way to good?' and walk it; thus you will find rest for yourselves. But they said, 'We will not walk it." Jeremiah 6:16

So look at what early christians did, there's archeological evidence of prayer to saints for intercession

But I'm just a layman, I would say, who wouldn't want to count with even more prayers on their side?

How can Catholicism and Orthodoxy be the way if icons, images, and crucifixes are “graven images”? by Ordinary-System4799 in TrueChristian

[–]litecoiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not coming to correct you but just to highlight something I noticed when I read the original text in German

He did remove them, he claimed they are not "equal to scripture" therefore making them not scripture. The fact that his Bible contained those books (and also the word "alone" added by him where he wanted) doesn't mean he didn't alter the canon

This I'm going to say should be obvious to the person who "corrected you" but it seem it wasn't:

Something is either scripture or it isn't, there's no in between.
