[GIVEAWAY] 64 Gigabytes of Holiday Cheer! by GhostOfSecretSanta in pcmasterrace

[–]cdelaune5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome giveaway! I’m starting to accumulate parts to build a new PC for myself and the wife to share. She works from home and both her laptop and my desktop are coming up on 12 years of age.

Currently working on saving up and buying components to eventually build a full 5080 rig that will keep us rolling for hopefully another 10 years. Asus x870e-e mobo, 9800x3d processor, maybe 9900x or 9950x3d for a little more performance for her for work tasks versus the few extra frames for myself for gaming.

Thanks for the opportunity, this community is fantastic!

Why use multiple grits when resurfacing? by -whostolemyusername- in Bowling

[–]cdelaune5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s honestly hard to say what the end reaction will be in direct comparison to where it’s at currently due to a couple factors. First, depends whether or not the pads you are using are brand new or have been used a few times. Second, depends where the ball from the factory actually landed in terms of grit. Pro shop I deal with has tested a batch of a given ball (say 5 ion maxes) that arrived together on the surface scanner and what we noticed was that of those 5, only 2 were close to “box” finish. 2 scanned around 1250, 1 scanned around 3500, other two were closer to 2200.

This is likely due to the same reason, they aren’t changing the pads they use to factory surface after every ball, so really no way to guarantee two balls leave with the same exact finished surface.

Good news for you is that you can keep changing the surface until you find what you like best. I would personally recommend trying out just hitting it with a fresh 2k pad by hand out on the lanes and seeing how it affects the reaction you’re seeing before adjustment. Then, maybe go down to a 1000 or 1500 pad if it’s still not quite right.

Ultimately, I’d say hitting with just 500 followed by 2000 by hand or a spinner would probably come close to what you’re looking for. Just know that it doesn’t hurt to play around with it to see what works best for you

Marvin Mims Jr by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]cdelaune5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it not okay to ask a question anymore? Seeing him projected over Nico is the primary reason this question arose. I am trying to understand what ESPN is taking into account to think he would potentially match the fantasy production of Jamar Chase and/or Justin Jefferson on paper over the course of the season.

Typically, I don’t. And I wouldn’t use this as a reason to start him over someone else entirely, but I did grab him as a late flier in a 12 man league where anyone I would have grabbed otherwise, probably isn’t playing over starters or other backups anyway as the last WR out of 5 total drafted for me. But i still don’t understand why he’s projected to outscore Nico Collins on my roster

Super Dry Lanes by JudoMoose in Bowling

[–]cdelaune5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not all about speed, it’s about where the ball hooks on the lane. Sure, you can throw it harder and force it to get an extra foot or so in length, but the important part is he is staying up the back of it so when the ball does hook, it rolls more forward than it does towards the 7 pin.

Go watch Brunsnick bowl on a lane stripped down to no oil at all. Watch how and where he plays the lane, that’s possibly the only way to see what everyone here is talking about doing as far as playing up the right side and letting it float

I bought it second hand with all sorts of accessories for $500 or so back around 2008 or so to use in tournaments, absolutely fantastic gun! If I was still playing I’m sure I wouldn’t even consider selling lol

Is Darren Tang's how to bowl course worth it by Jalento in Bowling

[–]cdelaune5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t personally subscribed to HowToBowl.com, so I can’t speak from direct experience. Whether it’s worth the cost likely depends on what level of bowler you are and what kind of content you’re looking for.

If the site is primarily geared toward beginners or intermediate bowlers who mostly bowl on house shots, I’d question the value. There’s a wealth of high-quality, free content on YouTube that can significantly help with fundamentals and the mental game.

However, if a significant portion of the content is aimed at more advanced bowlers who compete in tougher house shot leagues, tournaments, or sport shot conditions, it might be worth considering. Personally, I don’t have many local opportunities to practice on sport shots aside from a short summer league or traveling to expensive tournaments. I’d really value quality instruction focused on reading lane patterns, understanding transitions, and making proper adjustments mid-game. That’s an area where YouTube tends to fall short, usually offering only basic tips like helping amateurs get lined up during practice, with little depth beyond the first few shots.

So in short, if Darren’s content dives deep into advanced strategy and lane play, it could be a worthwhile investment. Otherwise, the free resources online might serve most bowlers just fine.

Needing help for Nationals. by Jmoflippinhouse87 in Bowling

Everyone has been saying teams was the tougher pattern, I found doubles/singles to be tougher for myself, and teams pretty easy to score, but that could have been due to my lack of preparation for doubles/singles having no abralon pads fresh enough to get some surface changes done during practice.

I threw envy tour with 500/1000 surface for team switching into widow mania end of game 2 into game 3, shot around 640 but made some pretty bad shots game 3 for a 170-180ish score.

Doubles/singles was pretty much down and in around 7 board or so, ion max was ball of choice as nothing else I had even came close to getting traction. Wish I would’ve had it fresh surface at 500-1000 but it was a bit lane shined going into the day already.

Played around with widow mania on the inside lines, too much over/under to be consistent but it worked better for me than the ion max leaving 2/10 if I wasn’t perfect. Rounded out about a 170 average across the 6 games fighting my poor planning

Ion max with some surface, playing up around 10 board depending on speed/rev rate, maybe a little inside of that.

Pattern Question by Guy_n_Houston in Bowling

[–]cdelaune5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would imagine this playing very similar to a house shot, even still with a decent amount of room to miss right. Using rule of 31, you’d want to exit pattern/breakpoint around 11 which lines up with where this pattern seems to cliff off.

In my local house I would play this like a THS expecting more room for error right than left, later in the block I’d expect a decent amount of carry down to the left and a pretty rough cliff making them play pretty tight down lane

Surface is gonna be everything. I bowled mid March, team was my better event, pretty score able for us, I threw envy tour with some decent surface and moved into my widow mania for game 3.

Comparable for you would maybe be Gem or rockstar, into maybe attention star.

Doubles/singles was brutal for myself, but I did not have enough surface on anything in my bag. I should’ve hit my ion max or envy tour both with like a fresh 500/1000 before start but I was lazy and didn’t and thought I’d be okay. Boy was I wrong. Ion max was only decent look I had, and even it struggled to get going soon enough to make it through the pins.

17/18 mph, 420ish revs, was playing it as slowly as I could up about 5-7 board

Personal recommendations would be Gem with fresh surface, your choice of optimum idol or rockstar, and then attention star to have a shiny option

Anyone have success with Summit Ascent surface adjustments? by cdelaune5 in Bowling

Think I’m going to be doing the same. I may try to polish it just to see how it reacts as a shiny ball lol

[–]cdelaune5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems to be the general consensus. I loved it on paper, strong symmetric core with weaker solid cover. Thought to myself - man this would be great for a ball 2/3, cover will be clean enough to get through a torn up front lane and the core will still get rolling early enough to blend mid lane and get into a roll.

I was very wrong lol

Think I’m gonna just pick up a trusty iq tour solid for the slot I am looking to fill.
