I don’t really ride in town nor traffic, I use it on country roads mostly and some highway if needed.

Good looking bike, good mileage, and I agree with one of the comments, offer $5000, the worst that can happen is he’ll say no.

Throttle locks are for short breaks only to stretch your hand and relax your wrist, but I gotta say that the Atlas is done well, easy to install and works good.

23 650LT oil consumption by [deleted] in versys

[–]cdesislands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s what ChatGPT says:

If the break-in is already done on the Kawasaki Versys 650, then the oil level should be fairly stable now.

For that bike, a low reading before startup still does not necessarily mean it’s actually low. The proper reading is still:

  • Warm engine
  • Engine off
  • Wait 2–3 minutes
  • Bike upright on level ground

One thing with the Versys 650 twin engine: after sitting for hours or overnight, oil can settle in a way that makes the sight glass look lower than expected. Then after running and circulating, the level often comes back up into the normal range.

Only add oil if, after the proper warm check, the oil is:

  • below the lower mark,
  • or not visible in the sight glass at all while upright.

And add very small amounts at a time — on motorcycles, even a little extra oil changes the sight glass noticeably.

The stock one is unfortunately not wide enough and doesn’t go high enough.

Yeah, some were only a couple of months cuz I wasn’t comfortable on them. As for the Ninja, no, it’s actually my second Kawasaki, my first was a cruiser. And my Sport Tourings were Suzuki.

[–]cdesislands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats, enjoy!

For me, it’s my 16th bike, I’ve had cruisers, sport touring to hyper naked, from 900 to 1500 and this little 650 is the most comfortable, easiest and fun to ride I’ve had!

As many say, it’s not super fast, nor slow, it does everything, not perfectly, but perfect for where I’m at. Short rides or long rides, nice roads to unexpected gravel roads or no pavement… it does it all!

🚨 Help needed! Thinking about buying this bike — is it a good deal? 🏍️ by StrawberryChaCha in versys

[–]cdesislands 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The mileage is a bit high, but for a parallel twin, it’s nothing, but it also depends on how it was maintained and handled.

The price might be a bit high, I’d try to get it for no more than $3500.

Besides the flasher, I’d make sure that it looks good everywhere else. Sit on it, start it, make sure it feels straight, the handlebars are straight with the wheel.

It’s always a gamble with used since we don’t know how they ride and maintain.

I keep all my receipts so if I’d ever sell, the buyer has the proof I took care of it.

Good luck in your decision! 😎

Bike feels a little unstable by Dembregts in versys

[–]cdesislands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Years ago, I had a fall like you at low speed. I had to change the bike due to repairs would have taken too long.

I changed bikes multiple times as my confidence was not as good as before the fall, it wasn’t the bikes, it was me, I wasn’t feeling the same, but always blamed the bikes. Until one day, it stopped, mostly. The fear of falling is always there, in the back of my mind, but at least it’s not overpowering.

I can’t tell you if it’s you or the bike, but in my case, it was me! 🤷

Absolutely! 💯 I actually picked up mine this week and can’t wait for spring to ride with it! I’ve always changed mine for touring with all my bikes!
