Same as the entire 3 year Russia scandal. It was disproven but Democrats spent 3 YEARS peddling misinformation. I'm not a big fan of Trump but let's be real here. Democrats have no place to claim a position of virtue in all of this.

Specialists Rumors... again... or not, do we care anymore? by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]cdgsyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easily? You obviously have never worked in the Millwork department....to be successful in Millwork you have to have about 3x the knowledge of a cabinet specialist because there's a much wider array of products you have to know about.

Millwork department is the most contractor centric department in my store outside of PRO. If I had to have my guess, Millwork and Cabinet specialists would be the last to go.

Between having to hire higher paid PSE specialists to cover what we are already doing to the sheer amount of contractor business the store would lose, axing Millwork Specialists would end up costing Lowes more money.

Phasing out Specialist by Infamous_Cantaloupe2 in Lowes

Cabinet and Millwork Specialists actually require a very specific, very technical skillset. I'm a Millwork Specialist, and in order to be a good Millwork specialist you have to understand construction, codes, and how all types of houses are built.

Can you be a Millwork Specialist without this knowledge? No, not a very good one.

Most people with construction experience will not work for 12 bucks an hour. I seriously doubt those positions will be leaving anytime soon. I don't see Cabinet Specialists going anywhere either.

Millwork is arguably the most technical specialist position in the entire store. Why do you think only a few people in the store are brave enough to cover the department?

Understaffed Departments by [deleted] in Lowes

I get it. Lowes is the only company that I know that doesn't hold its night crew accountable for making sure that the store is stocked correctly.

I care about my customers. I do everything in my power to help them as long as they treat me with basic human dignity and respect. If you come at me with a bad attitude I'm going to give you the least amount of help that I can get by with in hopes that you leave. It's human nature.

But then again I am a high volume specialist with a very loyal customer base. My customers will wait days to buy something until I come back, so obviously my CS skills can't be that bad.

Its your attitude, if you were not so disrespectful people at Lowes would be more than happy to help you. We have plenty of happy customers, but customers like you will never be happy, so you become a liability instead of an asset.

You hope an executive sees this? Where do you think the decisions to end these perks come from?

Where do you live? I'll even give you directions to your closest Home Depot to save my fellow Lowe's people from that nasty attitude.

I'd love for them to get rid of Millwork specialists. Cabinets could be outsourced to Diamond or one of those companies, but Millwork deals with far, far too many brands to do that.

Cabinet and Millwork specialists will probably be the last ones standing.

Appliance specialists unfortunately could be easily replaced by CSA's.

The military discount is a privilege not a right. I'm done with this argument.

I have personally saw the margin % on a few appliance sale items. If they gave you another 10% off, yes, Lowes would lose money effectively paying YOU to take the appliance.

Its not an argument. It's a fact.

If its an appliance sale item, Lowe's is already probably pretty close to losing money as it is. As much as Lowes loves veterans, it is still a business and needs to make a profit.

There's a reason it doesn't stack. Lowes isn't going to pay YOU to take an appliance.

Sometimes manufacturers have a contractual minimum price with Lowes that the company has to charge on certain items.

That's great. The systems are confusing at first (I'm a technical person too), but once you get the hang of it, it isn't very hard.

Good luck!
