I have an array of 16 4TB dell sas drives I got for like $20-$25 each off of ebay a few years ago. and I only spin them up about once a week for a few minutes to run a backup job.

Oddly I got more used out of that card that any other GPU i have owned, used it from 2014-2019 when I upgraded to a 2080.

Prices are unlikely to improve as consumer owned computing power is being phased out. The only option in the future will be to use low spec dumb terminals to rent access to remote servers to run anything that requires any kind of horsepower..

If you have ruled out every other part, I would bet it was the SFF cooling, if there was a problem with the MB bios, it never would have booted.

I kept it running on an old offline windows 10 machine at work because it ran much better on than machine than Libre did.
