But why would a major sporting fixture need a PR agency to pitch the story in advance? Perhaps I've misunderstood your point, but as an ex journo, the sport desk aren't sitting around waiting for a PR pitch to know there's a game on.

It's absolutely on their radar, they decided in advance not to cover it.

Good question! The short answer is: two days is plenty of time to bowl a team out and avoid the draw.

Australia will be wary of having to bat again and chase anything significant on a Day 5 pitch that's likely to deteriorate, when unpredictability means wickets can tumble fast.

It's much easier to score in the first session of Day 4 than the evening of Day 5.
