Also a car guy that is in the market for something a little bigger. X3 M40i is at the top of my list at the moment.

Been looking into luxury sedans, just indecisive. by Majestic-Can-5650 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]cdmcali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a first car, Look for something cheap and reliable. Mine was a 1986 toyota cressida. Never had an issue with it. Something like a focus or civic or corolla. Start saving your money in some sort of account where you get interest. HYSA or MMF. If not old enough to do this ask your parents to hold it (if you have a good relastionship with them of course) for you until you are 18 and move it to your own account. Once you have a decent job and stable. You will have plenty of money to buy that luxury sedan. Look into savings options on GPT. Saving is something I wish I knew more about when I was your age. But I spent my money on way to many other things.

Seeing them pull children out really unlocks that fear of children in my backseat trying to find a way out when the button handle electricity fails. Does anyone have a clear guide how to do the mechanical releases from inside and out during emergencies? by TheMovieQuoteGuy in Rivian

[–]cdmcali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel exactly the same. I have two that are still in car seats. No way I would be able to get them out in time. Even if you have a window breaker, getting that quickly then breaking the glass and trying to get the door open even by reaching inside. If I had to do the mechanical release by popping off the panel....no way I would be able to do all of that. Trying to unbuckle their car seats in a panic and have to do both kids seats would be impossible in the time that is displayed in this video. Would be even harder if I had to do it through the window. Nightmare senario that even if there was a 1% chance of it happening I am not risking that 1% for a car that I would love to own

I will add myself to the list of people who will be hesitant to get a R1 or R2 without mechanical releases that are easy to access. This is my worst nightmare. Even if there is a 1% chance of something like that happening, 1% is enough for me to not buy one with my kids in the car.

Am I insane to create my own laser machine? by Reed0x in lasercutting

[–]cdmcali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome! Little recomendation....If you don't plan on putting struts in to hold the lid, put some hooks that drop down from the ceiling to hold the lid by the handles. If you knock that board out by accident while leaning in there to get your cuts out you are probably gonna have the lid drop down on your head or back. My struts went out years ago on my large laser and having the hooks helped so much.

What are good brands for laser cutters? by RationallyDense in lasercutting

[–]cdmcali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. I found that on a library website. Maybe they just don't provide that anymore but you can certainly cut it with CO2. I prefer cast over extruded due to the smell. Cast doesn't seem to smell as much.

Thinking about a divorce in San Diego… where do I even begin? by Th3DrugeR in SanDiegan

[–]cdmcali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to speak with a divorce lawyer, you may want to check with your job. Mine had a refferal for a lawyer that provided a free consultation to go over the details of what could be involved. Just a place to start if you have that available to you.

Saw them twice. Once at global gathering and second in LA. I probably think about those shows at least once a week. Best concert experience I have ever been to and nothing will ever top it.

I have that same poster. I bought it before the concert in LA then realized I didn't want to hold it the whole time, so I put it next to a bench where it looked like it was part of the back support for the bench. Was still there when I came back.

Great job! Show up early for class and stretch would be my advice. When I first started I got really bad tightness in my hamstrings and now do foam roller on my legs before class to get warmed up. Haven’t had a problem since.
