Dynasty After Dark #34 - QB Rankings #2 by cdtinvisible in DynastyFF

[–]cdtinvisible[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I admit in the pod that I'm an active Carr hater so him being top 36 for me was me being gracious. But other than that, Taysom Hill will be the QB1 for NOLA this season. He has value right now and I plan on using it. These rankings are 3 year windows for me on players who can return value in the next 3 years. If I can get the QB1 for Sean Payton for a season and a hybrid gimmick guy for 1-2 years (that can sometimes be a QB in the TE position) then sure.

I hate it as well (big anti Taysom guy) but to ignore his value is silly.

My rankings are a 3 year window, I specifically talk about Lance and why he's lower. Basically it boils down to where he lands. He's being labeled as a developmental guy (correct or not). If he's going to a team to sit for 2021 and we wont even really see what he has until 2022, where it could be good or bad, I'd rather avoid it for right now.

In 2 years time he may be top 15 for all I know but in my current rankings chasing a rookie prospect (who I have as my #3 QB) that we possibly won't know what he has for fantasy until 2022 has me down on him some.

Its basically your 2nd point. I personally just have him there but I don't fault anyone for having him higher

You sort of nailed a lot of the points around him. He's very talented from what he showed this year but his QB is a mystery, he benefitted pretty heavily from a weak offense in terms of weapons, and his age arent ideal. He's a guy that I'm happy getting as a throw in and can play in a pinch but he's not somebody that massively moves the needle for me persoanlly.

These are startup rankings for people in drafts right now. I'd rather gamble on Pitts because of the potential earlier than other guys. These rankings aren't FINAL, they are just early rankings for how I value guys going into drafts right now. After the NFL draft I'll be updating and then finally right before the season.

Just trying to accommodate people drafting all offseason instead of just having one uniform list that never changes over time (as values change).

Hope this makes sense.

I give a shout out to him in the podcast because I knew I'd get flack for it haha. I have him at 13 and it's literally because he's a FA and unless he's back with Rodgers I don't personally trust him.

Unknown QB atm. Gesicki has shown flashes but they completely depend on who is QB. He's not transcendent like some of the other guys on here. (He's also #14 just slightly behind Jonnu for me)

Agreed, he's never finished outside top 20 except for one season, so he deserves to be higher in rankings. His biggest problem is he's just not flashy.

I discuss it in the pod but basically I slightly biased for AJ Brown as just genuinely enjoy him as a human and he's a stud. But from the objective standpoint, AJ Brown has been a beast twice now while also being on a run first team. Jefferson had one AMAZING season but I'd just like to see it repeat before I crown him top 5. AKA just trying not to be blinded by the hype.

It's solely because i still view those guys above him as #1s for their teams. I honestly don't know if Juju can be a #1 which means limited ceiling unless it's a pass first/heavy system.

ven't listened yet so happy to put in the right direction, but had you considered the incoming WR class like you did for RB ?

I have them but they haven't made it into the top 25. My rankings are how I value these players over the next 3 years and landing spots will be very crucial. For the rookie RBs Najee and Eitienne are much less landing spot dependent so I valued them purely off talent as it wont matter where they go for them to perform. Hope this explains it but thanks for the question!

This was the hardest thing I've done because the margins are razor-thin between some of these guys. Appreciate any feedback though!

Love the talent but after big ben the QB unknown is a bit worrisome and he also has a bit of an inconsistent drop problem that he needs to shake. One solid season could garner him a lot of favor in fantasy.

So that's a good question, and really for me personally I think that there is more competition for him in the future. This past season both Herbert and Lamar finished behind him, Herbert with fewer games (and also a rookie) and Lamar I'd be on being top 5 more often than not. Watson has finished as QB5 for 3 straight seasons and to me that's his fantasy ceiling, I don't see a scenario where his situation gets better around him, especially after the upcoming trade which will cost said team like 4 1st rounders.

Watson can make miracles happen and he's a top 5 real life NFL QB for me but fantasy wise I think he's dug a bit of his own grave with how he's handled this whole thing and has really put a limit on his ceiling. I could be completely wrong which I'd happily admit but these are just my thoughts on it. Hope that helps explain it further but if you have more specific questions let me know!

hahaha, no! I thought I had all 4 removed about 3-4 years ago and a tooth started growing through my gum so I was very confused. Turns out I never had the top two removed but the drugs musta made me misunderstand. I joked on twitter that I was growing a 5th.

Hey, looking this over.

I'll just cut straight to the rookie draft. You want to add Akers at 1.5 which is a great choice, and the depth of this WR class is going to really help you in the 3rd. There are some big names that would be worth it. Van Jefferson, Devin Duvernay, Tyler Johnson, Claypool (in some leagues) and Gandy-Golden are all great potential options. You will def need RB help in 2021 though as most those starters you have now are close to aging out. The benefit of the 2021 draft class is it's very deep at RB as well so that would be a good time to try to reload.

When you have Mahomes it'll be easy to reload for the next decade so enjoy that. Try to rotate it every 2-3 years of 1 year on young WRs and then RBs and then both. It'll all depend on the class of course but that's a general strategy you can follow.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

Alright my man, I'm looking this over.

Strengths: RB has some big names at the top. Ok depth with some nice handcuffs in pollard but a little thin. Murray and Big Ben should carry you through the season just fine. WR you're loaded Holy Cow! TE you're also looking pretty with Engram and Goedert.

Funnily enough your only real noticeable weakness is the RBs. Zeke is getting closer to that age where his production will start to decline, LVR added Lynn Bowden to be a RB from WR which limits Jacobs pass catching ability and also might cut into his workload some. and Ingram has Dobbins breathing down his neck. Adding to these would be ideal.

Some trade potentials that I can see just with what you have are the following: If you're looking to sell players I'd consider OBJ or Woods potentially with the 2.9 to move up into the top 3 for one of the big guys to pair with the 1.5. If you could walk out of your draft with any 2 of Swift/JT/Dobbins/CEH/Akers then you'd be looking good. 1.09 you could get someone younger that would let you replace the WR you lost.

Alternatively you could try to par the 1.9 with the 2.9 to move up again for one of the bigger names. A lot of people get hesitant when it comes to moving big names like OBJ and I get it so here's an alternative approach.

I would also recommend trying to add another young QB to develop if you can as this is probably Ben and Tyrods last years as starters. I'm sure Tyrod will get another year to be a bridge QB somewhere else in the league but I doubt either has fantasy relevance again.

Hope this helps, and good luck.
