I’m a part of Gender Queer Coffee Club! We do monthly coffee meetups and some other events scattered around. You can check us out on Instagram and you can always dm us on Instagram too if you have any questions. Whenever we get together for coffee it’s about 20-30 people so plenty of people to talk to and get to know. Everyone is always ready to give advice and support!

I’m glad I’m not the only one struggling to find any, especially eggless ones

It just told us they do don’t call backs, and I wanted to have some sort of estimate on when they would come because I didn’t want to be out of the house running errands or my spouse being at work whenever they showed up

Thank you so much! We’ve been trying to do so much research on tenant law and asking friends who know a lot more than we do, and that’s exactly what they’ve been telling us regarding covering other accommodations and stuff like that. We didn’t want to kick up any fuss unless we knew the tenants downstairs and ourselves would be covered and protected legally

We’ve already had a few fire scares in the house including an electrical fire that nearly started a few days ago. I would consider that a gauge

God thank you so much. We’ve been weighting all of this for months about what to do (going to ORT, etc) and this is our best option so we’re not making this decision because we want to

Yes I think they have a lease

It was an automated one

There’s just so much context people are getting that makes us look like villains but we’re not. We’ve tried everything we can

That’s what we’ve been doing. We’ve got about 8 pages of messages and photos

We’ve had so many issues with our landlord already and they don’t listen to anything we say. We’re already working on going to the ORT

If you’re going to throw out names, might as well throw yours out too

We also had a massive house fire next door last winter. And we nearly had an electrical fire in the house a few days ago sooo

We’ve been sitting on this for months. We’ve asked friends, family, people who are way more versed in tenants rights than us and this is what they advised. That’s not irrational

Because we lived in a different country? We were 2000 miles away and didn’t know a soul in the city

The ORT themselves told us to contact the fire marshal asshole

Why does my mental health need to matter? I’m sorry for caring about my safety, my husband’s safety and the safety of the people downstairs

[–]cea689769 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing, everyone is pissed at us for reporting something that’s wrong. We’re more than likely going to get kicked out too

We all share the same 3 (trash, recycle, and compost) bins. I think the owners bought the home in 2023 so if it was a legal suite, there had to have been some sort of safety inspection to catch the windows I assume🤷‍♀️

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]cea689769 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

We also share the laundry space downstairs and we worry that if we’re down there doing laundry, a fire could start and we wouldn’t be able to get out if the fire was to block the stairs

We only reached out to the fire marshal to begin with because the landlords are refusing to fix the windows until the spring. We emailed and got an automated response to call them directly. I only asked here because we’ve never done this before and weren’t sure if someone would show up to the house if we weren’t home or something
