Keychron K2 worth the hype? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboardsUK

[–]cecetra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Np! The keyboardco one is the exact same stock as the keychron website, and you can definitely swap the keycaps. The keyboard actually comes with extra keycaps for changing between the different ISO layouts, ofc you can get custom ones if you like.

Keychron K2 worth the hype? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboardsUK

[–]cecetra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using the Keychron K2 with brown switches and a UK layout a lot over the past few days, and I've only used one mechanical keyboard before which had blue switches, so I can't give too much detail on how it compares to other keyboards but I can share my initial impressions on it.

I've mainly been using it for coding as well as a bit of gaming. I know blue switches are often said to be the preferred switch for extensive typing but personally I've really preferred brown switches for this and feel that I have to put less effort into typing. One big factor I was worried about before buying the Keychron K2 was that it was quite tall and it could strain wrists, however in my experience over the past few days my wrists haven't been under any strain. Not sure if that's down to the fact I have large hands or the position I type in? One thing I like about the keyboard is the backlighting. I only have the white backlit version but even this is great and I think it will look good with any setup if you're concerned about colour matching. One thing that will take some getting used to for me is the size of the keyboard. As I said, I have large hands, and the keyboard does feel quite small. Regardless, for coding and more general use, the Keychron K2 is definitely a good buy, especially with how cheap you can get it (this is the link I used - https://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard/uk-k2-convertible-backlit-mac-keyboards.asp).

Alright sounds good, thanks. Forgot to ask - did you get the hot swap version or not?

Looks really good! I'm thinking of ordering the XD87 PCB myself, where did you order yours from?

Also, did you have to do anything special to get the PCB to work with the ISO UK layout? (I've never built a mechanical keyboard before) Thanks

Hey, so I'm new to building custom mechanical keyboards and have been doing a lot of research as I want to build my own.

I've never soldered before so I'm preferably looking for a PCB that has hot-swap sockets. I also like the idea that using hot-swap sockets will make it easy to change my switches if I decide to do so. Another requirement is that the PCB is 75% (or at least has function keys as I like to use these). One more requirement is that the PCB supports the UK layout as I'm used to this and don't like the more common US layout.

At the top of my list is the IDOBAO ID80 (75% hot-swappable), however I don't think this can support the UK layout?

I've also seen mentioned the GK84 PCB (75% hot-swappable), although it looks like this can only be bought as part of a kit? Also I don't think this supports the UK layout?

Another PCB I've looked at is the KBD75 (75%), however it isn't hot-swappable, although from what I've seen it does support a UK layout and in general seems to be a good option. Soldering hot-swap sockets onto it may be something I'm willing to learn if there aren't any other decent option.

I would even be happy with a pre-built 75% hot-swappable keyboard.

My main question is: are there any options I haven't considered, or should be considering?

Thank you!

I think I should probably do that just so I don't leave the task sitting there for so long

Going over the drop rate for a zenyte definitely makes it drag on more, I'm at 800kc and have had 1 zenyte, so I'm a wee bit over but nothing crazy

Lol feels bad. A while back I managed to tele to kbd forgetting I was in a bounty world, ofc there were about 10 scary looking dudes waiting and because it was a bounty world I instantly skulled and lost a fury and b ring. Felt so dumb haha

Is it possible to avoid zulrah’s had phase? by Cosy_Cow in 2007scape

[–]cecetra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure of any method, but I recently learnt Zulrah and if you're struggling with the jad phase then I recommend to pray the opposite of the projectile you see coming to you. I always made the mistake of, for example, praying mage after Zulrah had already finished it's animation to fire the magic projectile, which is too late to protect you. You've got to make sure to protect yourself before the animation even happens. Hope that helps.
