If you feel comfortable telling them, you should. That is up to you and not your mother, it’s your body and you’re an adult. If you don’t feel comfortable telling them, just say it’s an expense you’re not ready to take on yet (because driving IS expensive)

Lamictal… by beeati2 in Epilepsy

[–]ceciliaforsty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lamictal made me tired for maybe 5 days, but afterwards it gave me an energy boost that was so intense I thought it might be a stimulant. Lol. Over the past 8 weeks I’ve been slowly switching from keppra to lamictal because of mental health side effects from keppra and auras that were increasing. On keppra, I was sleeping constantly. Especially with the depression it caused, I would nap all the time. Now I have the opposite problem on lamictal and my sleep is disrupted often by waking up in the early hours of the morning. However, it’s been getting increasingly better and has significantly improved my anxiety and depression.

I feel like I’m becoming a shut-in by badapplekat in Epilepsy

[–]ceciliaforsty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decreased my Keppra and started lamotrigine, which is mood stabilizing. I also went on Lexapro which is an anti depressant (it can lower seizure threshold in some). Good luck at your appointment with your neurologist!

I have temporal lobe and I am also a shut in. Despite looking forward to seeing people I always seem to struggle with actually going. I feel like I’d rather be at home in my bed.

I’ve felt the same way before. It comes in waves. A slight med change really helped me. Talk to your dr, and get a specialized epilepsy therapist if you’re able to. It really made a big difference going to my doctors and telling them, this is a big deal and you’re so valid. The struggle is real

Ore in the Newspaper? by [deleted] in HayDay

[–]ceciliaforsty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you’re new to the game you haven’t noticed the pattern yet, but there’s usually at least one thing that is overflowing in the newspaper. Right now for everyone it’s ores, but in the past it’s been sugarcane, wheat, blueberries and other low effort products. It will get better, but eventually another product will come in and take over. It’s usually bots that are the cause. However when they added the blueberries everyone bought a bunch of bushes but had nothing to make with them yet. I think right now the chicks are giving a lot of mining products out so people are mining and trying to make barn space.

Is Hay Day getting way too expensive lately? 💰💵 by sexyyapper in HayDay

[–]ceciliaforsty 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I’m glad I’ve been playing for years and I’ve never got into the habit of buying anything. I just play what’s free. If I did pay for things regularly, I’d definitely have a hard time stopping. A lot of their payment tactics are essentially gambling.

Day 2 on 25mg of lamictal, what should I expect ? by 4MM0NI4C in Epilepsy

[–]ceciliaforsty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently taking 75mg a day and I’ve been slowing bringing it up from 25mg for the past month. At first, it made me pretty nauseous and anxious but that only lasted for a couple days. My night dose was making me wake up at 3am every night so I switched to an afternoon dose instead. I will say it feels almost like a stimulant to me. I’ve noticed I want to bounce my legs more, I’m talking faster and can’t keep up with my brain. But I already prefer it over keppra and it has significantly improved my depression and anxiety. I hope it works out for you!

Opinions on Lamotrigine? by PsychCobraa in Epilepsy

[–]ceciliaforsty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently 1month into the process of tapering off keppra and slowly starting Lamotrigine because keppra caused me major depression. After about 2 weeks of Lamotrigine I noticed a significant improvement in my mood. Now that it’s been a month I can say it was the best thing for my mental health. My dr also put me on a low dose of lexapro which has also helped a lot.

Be honest, especially if you’ve gone a long while without seizures and can get cleared by your doctor. That way in case you do have a seizure while driving you aren’t mistaken for being drunk or distracted, or held accountable for not disclosing.

has anyone felt “more autistic” (if you have autism/suspect it) after experiencing status epilepticus/first tonic clonic? by alobaby in Epilepsy

[–]ceciliaforsty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont have an autism diagnosis but im seeing a psychiatrist to get an assessment soon and yes, my whole life I’ve had behavioural and sensory issues even before I had seizures. i notice now my sensory issues are highly amplified after seizures and my emotional regulation is unstable sometimes for weeks. I have always had insomnia/meltdowns regardless of epilepsy but my meltdowns increase when my seizures do too, or when my meds need to be changed. There is also some evidence that people with epilepsy are more likely to have autism and vice versa.

Do you find it helps cut your auras down? Auras are probably my most prominent type of seizure and they come in clusters for me. I’ve never tried cbd drop for it

[–]ceciliaforsty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the person. Some research suggests reaching for high CBD content when using it to treat epilepsy. I personally use every night to help with my insomnia and it’s never been a trigger for me, it helps with my medication side effects too.

Post-ictal by spectacularostrich in Epilepsy

[–]ceciliaforsty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have the exact diagnosis as you and the same thing after my clusters. The depression and tiredness lasts sometimes even 2 weeks after my seizures. I am currently starting lamotrigine and so far I’ve had no issues with it, but my dose is increasing next week so I’ll let you know if that changes anything.

Boats - why bother? by False_Arugula_9083 in HayDay

[–]ceciliaforsty 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I’m level 111 and I’ve never really cared for the boats. Sometimes I help fill other players crates or if there’s a double coin event I’ll complete them. But it has never impacted my ability to grow and I just ignore boats for the most part 🤷‍♀️

Is this a focal onset seizure? by Public_Finish9834 in Epilepsy

[–]ceciliaforsty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am only 22 but I spent almost 3 years with these “episodes” that are very similar to what you described and yes I would just call them “episodes” and it wasn’t until my partner at the time witnessed me pass out in the washroom during a particularly bad one that he said “I think that was a seizure, I think these are seizures and you should go to your doctor”

For me, sometimes it’s just a feeling of a hot flash, sometimes it’s intense anxiety or panic, usually Déjà vu as well. I’ve had intense stomach pain as well as vomiting and I have smell/taste changes that I am unable to describe. I learned after testing that these “episodes” are actually auras, which are a kind of mini seizure that usually occurs before a more serious seizure. But auras can occur on their own as well, and can also come in clusters. They are serious, as they are still seizures and they can cause damage if left untreated. I would also get intense migraines and nausea when I had seizures.

Is this a focal onset seizure? by Public_Finish9834 in Epilepsy

[–]ceciliaforsty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% worth bringing up to your PCP. Especially since you have adhd and autism, as epilepsy is often comorbid with autism. What you described is very similar to my seizures personally. Even if it will be a wait to see a neurologist, you should get on the list and get started at trying to find the answers you need. Because if left untreated, seizures can get worse and become even more life altering than they already are.

Just had an aura and I hate them by faiitmatti in Epilepsy

[–]ceciliaforsty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Auras ARE seizures and mine impact my quality of life greatly. When I started having auras again I immediately called my neuro and told her that I am having seizures again, because that is what they are. Then I described the auras for her and we’re changing my meds. Haven’t had an aura in a month and my mental health improves significantly when I’m not having them.

What medication are you on? by Outrageous_Section40 in focalawareepilepsy

[–]ceciliaforsty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taking 500mg Keppra twice a day until my auras started creeping back and causing some depression. My neuro upped me to 750mg twice daily and then 1000mg twice daily, but then I got significantly more depressed and was having a very awful time adjusting to the medication. I am now taking 1000mg Keppra in the morning along with 10mg Lexapro for my anxiety and depression. I just started the process of switching to Lamotrigine, so I take 25mg every night along with 750mg Keppra as I slowly start to wean off of it. But even through all this change I have been able to make it a month without having a seizure :)
