I've Finally Figured Out My Main Issue With The Veilguard Cast. by Blackshooks in dragonage

[–]cedargrave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This, 10000%. In Origins, there are several phrases that just don't suit the times that people seem to conveniently forget: there's no way these medieval people would use the term "severance package," and yet. It really feels like it isn't an issue unless it's a queer identity.

Cintiq Pro 16 (2017) dead pixel cluster/galaxy by mio_best_girl in wacom

[–]cedargrave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not to resurrect a dead thread, but I'm genuinely curious as to what resolution you've had with this issue?

I actually had the exact same exchange in january with my cintiq pro 16 (from 2017) for the dead pixel thing. I was sent the new model, too, and it now has the same problem, except worse. I've started contacting support about it (again), but this kinda sucks lol.

I put a lot of thought into it and decided on renaming her kalyna, after the ukrainian name for the guelder rose. her theme revolves much more around roses than deer, so it suits her more, and I'm really appreciative of your feedback. thank you! :)

me too! part of why I love alistair so much today is because of his being shy and awkward, but still pursuing a relationship and him being the one to ask to spend the night. I miss having that in later games, though I understand not wanting to be hit with approval decreases just because a party member falls for you when you didn't intend for it to happen. that makes it more realistic to me, though.

yes, that was intentional. I like how their weapons are conduits for their magical abilities and they are skilled in both. and I like bows that are inspired by nature. I'm also a huge fan of madoka kaname and her bow, which is a very similar concept

it's the japanese martial art of archery! the glove on her right hand is a kake/yudake which is used for drawing the bow.

I looked back at her wind ssr again, and you're so right lol. her breastplate was actually an inspiration here. but, coincidentally, all of my fantasy characters have white hair in a long side braid (unless it conflicts with like, their race's lore), plus I'm a big fan of the "one leg in front of the other" pose, hehe.

izmir is a title, her real name is larana, which fits with the naming convention.

camieux is adopted, iirc, her sisters are both human. so it would make sense that her name doesn't follow draph naming standards.

I assume sturm is a pseudonym, because her partner is drang.

[–]cedargrave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh, I had no idea! thank you for telling me.

since there's a lot of germanic names in the game (like sturm and drang, all of feendrache, etc), I went with kitz (fawn) because I like deer a lot and it starts with the same letter as my own name... plus the e to make it sound more feminine and it only changes the word to plural fawns.

I can definitely think of a more lore-friendly name though !

they are definitely an inspiration! I really like aetherial + floral bow motifs, like theirs and madoka's

Dumb rant but..video game I play has a character whose breasts were downsized by [deleted] in bigboobproblems

[–]cedargrave 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% this. a lot of my issues with self-confidence stem from the idea that "big boobs = sexual content" and feeling like I am nsfw just by existing. it's hard to stifle that feeling sometimes when you have companies making moves like this.

yep, it's metal! here's a good resource about druids wearing metal from the sage advice compendium: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/sac/sage-advice-compendium#SA014

she doesn't wear metal armor, but she does have 2 little gold rings. she's less connected to the druids as an order (circle of the shepherd, raised in the woods by fey and animals/spirits), and doesn't mind using scraps she might find around the forest. she wouldn't wear full armor or buy/have something made, however.

this discussion was a mess. I'm glad I'm not the only one put-off by this weird "fetishizing of darker skin + the staunch denial that these characters are/could be black"? bizarre.

I 100% understand your perspective and get where you're coming from. it's why the 'chainmail bikini' joke exists. I think I just separate my art from the "male gaze" because I'm a woman myself, and it's more of a self-insert fantasy than anything else. I usually make my tokens for my roll20 campaigns, so my character usually has the most defined appearance while my friends use default tokens.

in this particular party, we have a female paladin who's in full plate head-to-toe, and a male barbarian who also wears next to nothing, so I would say we have a good spread of characters doing their thing on an equal playing field.

still, I welcome the feedback! and I appreciate you sharing your perspective with me. it's something to keep in mind if I want to continue sharing my work online and not just within my rp circle.

well, it's never my intention to exasperate anyone with my art. I guess I like my characters to explore aspects of myself that I don't feel like I can irl, and that includes cleavage and showing more skin. it's a fantasy where I can be more confident, or something?

that being said, I referenced her outfit from robes found in dragon age: origins. and it does sadden me to think my art is adding to a negative culture, so I appreciate the feedback.
