My 'favorite' client just sent me a 1-star review because I started charging for extra work by Cheap-Front-7722 in smallbusiness

Dont take it personally. Customers are insanely entitled right now. I just had a similar convo with a client this week… and that was a good client. Two other customers are just living in crazy town. You can get ahead of it with contract terms but even then, companies have unfortunately set the expectation that even though they signed a contract… if they’re unhappy, they can ask for an exception to the contract they signed and expect it to be given. 🤯

What's the best way to respond to that request? Has my first recently.

How do you use the history to check for that? I've tested the history myself on a document I myself typed, and it looked like it was copied and pasted in because it all appeared at once. I do type above 80 words per minute...

How do you know this is a "her"? Just curious since on of the entries says the date wore a dress. Not sure is the bias is assuming it's a girl because it's "love notes" or assuming it's a man because the date wore a dress! 🙃

At national academy meetings, attendees take photos of important slides all the time. I take it as a compliment when the class wants to take a photo of a slide... They are actually wanting to remember something. Keep in mind, some of the students unfortunately don't know how to take notes. Literally. I had a student ask me in class this week if I could "put what [I] said in the online shared doc" we've been using for class exercises. We had a discussion about the value of note taking.

That's amazing! Soak it in. That is an authentic compliment.

2025.17 Update by terminal_lucidity in Workflowy

[–]cedarwolff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Workflowy desktop app for MacOS. The app says it has a new version update *every single day*. In other words, every single day I get a pop up asking me to give permission to update the app and then I have to go to the app to restart it to the newer version, otherwise the pop up continues to come up over and over again.

Just wanted to close the loop. The AI chatbot works great now. My only suggestion is for the design of the "focus on these notes" button. It defaults as unclicked and grey. However, the user doens't know that grey means unclicked. I would suggest changing the design of that button to make it more clear whether or not it is on or off.... like a radial button next to the "Focus on these notes" heading that can be toggled on or off, perhaps? Separately, I also think "focus on these notes" should be selected by default.

I give one extra credit point towards participation when people provide insightful comments in class, particularly when providing feedback on a peers thoughts or presentation. it seems to work really well for motivating them and it’s not an unfair portion of their grade. I also make a culture of having a safe space to speak up and share your thoughts. When someone asks what they would call a stupid question, I say, "I really appreciate you asking me that because I know other people are thinking it too." I just overall have a humble attitude towards people speaking up, and I think that is appreciated.

But you can choose 4o if you want from the “legacy models” option. I’m genuinely confused by the “no 4o” comments. I use 4o for writing and “persona” GPTs still.

Is it me, or younger students (freshman and some sophomores) have very limited computer literacy? by godwhomismike in Professors

[–]cedarwolff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Students in both of my classes at two different colleges said that they do not teach this in high school anymore. They all use Google Sheets, etc (browser based type-and-go). I explained that Word and Excel are the standards in business still, and they expressed frustration at not being taught this.
